I have just launched our new podcast, Dot Web. Dot Web is were I pick apart the web one pixel at a time. I talk about web design, and visit sites, and discover what works and what doesn't. What looks good and what looks not so good.
I hope you will all go and listen to the first episode
You can visit the site here: http://www.thelpodcast.com
If you have any suggestions or feedback either post here or send me a email at: feedback |at| thelnews.com
Thanks

Not bad at all, pretty good. Just add a bit more enthusiasm and you got it. Also, can we submit website suggestions here in the thread?

I'm listening to this right now.
As an old fart who jumped on the web design game early on, I think it would be cool to let us listeners know what you bring to the table, what your experience is, and why your opinions are, well, worth listening to. You might wanna give a quick little intro at the beginning, something like: "hi, I'm mr me, welcome to dotweb. I'm a student of this that, the other thing, with experience here there and everywhere. I will discuss site design blah blah blah... Check out my qualifications at dotweb.com/experience..."
It sounds ike you are passionate about this, but this first episode sounds like you are trying to explain site design to a friend over the phone. You need more scripting before you start, even if it's just an outline.
But hey, we're all new at this when we start. (duh!)
I have nothing but mad crazy enthusiasm for new podcasters, and think this is a good concept with tons of potential. And a strong, but niche, audience.
Recommendations:
Lighten up a bit. You have a good voice, but you seem a little nervous. A little too much dead space, and too many umms. The aforementioned written outline in front of you would help.
Humor. If something sucks say so, but come up with a goofy not too insulting way to do it.
Co-host: The most successful podcasts seem to also have at least two people. They talk both to each other and the audience. I don't know why this works, but it does. Engadget, Diggnation, buzzoutloud, twit. All have at least two people.
Love the "Random Site" concept. This is where a second person would come in handy. You could both be looking at the site, and one could investigate for a minute while the other talks, and vise-versa.
All in all, I think you are onto something here. Definitey Digg worthy after a couple more eps. Maybe even a Rev3 show down the road.
(edit: Don't necessarily think it has to be a vidcast. I think you could stick with audio if you can script it a little more. This is something I would listen to at work on my ipod, and sneak a quick peak at the sites you discuss when I can.)

Thanks for the advice, what you say makes absolute sense, and I will defiantly try and work those points.
I thought about a second person too, you are right it does work a lot better with two people. Cause then we can bounce ideas off each other, and with a second person I think I would stay more relaxed, and more humor would be used.
Thanks for the great advice.

Co-host: The most successful podcasts seem to also have at least two people. They talk both to each other and the audience. I don't know why this works, but it does. Engadget, Diggnation, buzzoutloud, twit. All have at least two people. Especially for audio, two people are necessary for this type of show, because you need someone to ask questions and bounce ideas off (depsite the fact the questions and ideas are scripted). With just a lone voice, it either sounds like a one sided phone conversation, or a lecture - neither of which are compelling listening. Also with two people, dead air can get filled by the other person - just like a natural conversation.
