Does this bother the hell out of anyone else when Alex frequently butchers the name of thepiratebay.org? I dont know, or care, if he does it for fun, as a way of irl griefing his viewers, or just because he wants to. It's incredibly annoying and just makes Alex look like even more of a big tool than he does already (hello, how many free Zunes have you got for guerilla advertisement on the show?)
Am i alone in this? I can't believe they dont get 100+ emails per episode whenever Alex says PiratesBay on camera, so he must continue to do it just to aggravate fans like me.

You might be alone on this one. If you don't like it, don't watch the show. But I would say that no, it does not bother most people. I never even noticed it until you make this post.
Also, what's wrong with free Zunes? You don't appreciate free stuff?

It's the most obvious characteristic of a sellout because he is literally selling your opinion to the highest bidder. Whoever gives you more free stuff, more money, more perks, etc. gets their product a 10min discussion on an episode of Diggnation. It compromises their integrity and makes their opinions untrustworthy, and if you can't see that then you deserve to be the victim of one of the multitude of substandard products that Alex promotes on the show in order to fatten his wallet.

yes it bothers me when he says pirates bay... like nails on a chalk board, and i do agree he get paid( gets free shit from microsoft). and i do think it detracts from the integrity of the show... but i don't get my news from diggnation, so it doesn't stop me from watching it, and i do think that both alex and kevin are very funny, would like alex to stop interrupting kevin so much though...

I never said I was offended, I just don't understand how Alex expects his viewers to respect him when he can't even pronounce a very well-known geek website properly.
But I think a ton of people must have emailed diggnationfans@gmail.com and complained about Alex's obvious Microsoft plugs. It's actually gone down quite a bit lately, it was horrendous around Episode 120 or so.
EDIT: he doesnt even call it The Pirate's Bay, it just Pirate's Bay. For example, Alex might say: "Dude Kevin, Pirate's Bay sucks now. I tried to go to Pirate's Bay the other day to download the new Fall Out Boy CD so I could Jam out to it in my car, but I couldn't find any good torrents they all sucked!!!!11!"

Why does it bother you? Pirate's Bay is correct when you about it... it's their bay... the pirate bay... it's really not that big of a deal. It's not like all 250,000 viewers don't already know the correct name and if they don't, googling "Pirate's Bay" brings up thepiratebay.org as the first result... so what's the big deal?

I really can't see how people could send hate mail in the first place...this is not a mandatory show. We pay nothing for it. I just don't get how some people feel they have the right to tell a show host what/how to use/act. Just relax and have fun. Why waste precious moments of your life being upset about something that isn't a big deal?

There's something in the geek mystique about hating. It's somehow a mark of sophistication or genuineness to hate things and express hate in long winded pointless fashion.

They have influence, because they have a fairly large audience's ear... It's only natural to have companies be interested in giving them stuff... hell, sometimes they give it so they can give it to us...
This is a natural progression of popularity and/or notoriety.

This is exciting and relevant information to the topic at hand! dns lookups are cool, even if they are wrong.
I should have expected these loyalist responses from people who frequent the show's official forums. How many users are there here, 100? 200?
People would send hate mail because his mispronunciations make him look like a poser, and his other behavior is just unethical. When someone pays the show/him to advertise a product, it should be delegated to the Sponsors section of the show. Doing it anywhere else on the show just reflects badly on his morality and his greediness.

This is absurd and unrealistic. I think revision3 does a pretty good job of keeping things neutral so far despite sponsors. And also, diggnation is really just a banter show, if it were a gadget review show, it might be more concerning. Plus revision3 has to pay the bills, just like you do. I work for a tech company, but I don't use only their products for everything in life, nor would I evangelize to my friends either way just on branding. I'm probably more biased than Rev3 because I would be unable to can our products in a public forum due to da' rulez. So does this make me, a pretty average young tech employee, a total sellout? Maybe you define only the unemployed as non-sellouts, which is your right, but is one I personally believe is pretty immature. Look up critical thinking, and look up the way things work in the real world.
