I Need help closing Processes inside Vista (Home, 32).
A lot of processes i try to close using the Task Manager and the "End Process" button... doesn't.
I Even downloaded "Process Killer" and nothing, I Even opened the command line and used taskkill.
"taskkill /im program.exe" "taskkill /f /im program.exe" (Neither of which worked, even though /f said it did)
Currently the only way to close these pesky processes is to reboot or relog and i am sick beyond belief of rebooting everytime i want to close skype.exe, hl2.exe, and many more.
PLEASE someone out there be able to solve this dilema.

Microsoft has a free process application that works in xp and vista 32/64 and it's a better solution than the normal task manager that comes with the OS. This might solve your problems. Also, make sure you have all the critical updates for your OS, including the service pack. I know that goes without saying... but, you never know.
Microsoft's Process Explorer (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx)

Same when running task manager as administrator?
That's interesting. Perhaps it's a funky driver issue, I'm leaning towards sound card as it effects skype. Unless you have already done this, try installing the latest drivers for your sound card.
If you have disabled any services your self try enabling them again.

Yeah i am on the Admin account.
I Have updated all drivers and this seems to be (after searching google alot) a very common problem for Vista.
As for the built in program, that is the "taskkill" i referred to earlier.
And i have also downloaded all patches, i never skip any.

Yeah i am on the Admin account.
Doesn't mean you ran it as an administrator, Vista tries to never let you run as an administrator. hence the "yes continue" shaded screen questions.

Vista likes to shut down all tasks (ie services, applications) in a safely manner before it powers down but if you get a application that doesn’t respond in a timely manner, Vista has a built in delay that it deemed safe to close the task. This timeout can be shortened by editing or adding a file in the registry.
Open the Registry Editor (flag key > type regedit)
Expand to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
Find the WaitToKillAppTimeout value or Edit > New > DWORD Value (32 bit) and type WaitToKillAppTimeout and input new value in milliseconds. The default is 20000 or 20 seconds before unresponsive application is forced to close. I set mine to 2000 or 2 seconds.
Repeat step 3 for WaitToKillServiceTimeout which applies to services
Restart Computer.
That might help you close out processes faster, so you don't have to restart.
