And what age are you now?

Just wondering.

6 or 7. Mostly Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles I'd pick up at farmers' markets. Then years of just reading Batman trades. I didn't start reading weekly books until early 2007.

I'll be 24 on Wednesday.

I read my first comic at probably 6. I didn't read aanymore until I was 15 or so, and have been reading since. I'm only 18.

I started at about 10 and read whenever I could which wasn't often. I started reading every week when I got my first job (Pizza Hut!!) when I was 16. I stopped when I was 20 as I moved out and couldn't afford it...and now I am back to collecting again. I am currently 23.

I'm honestly not sure... the first comic that really kicked off collecting was one part of the X-cutioner's song crossover. But I had some older issues that I'd bought at some point and I used to dig through a bunch of my dad's old books as well (he had a pretty good collection, including things like Amazing Spider-Man 129 and old X-Men books)

Oh and I'm 28 and 2/3rds

I'm 36 and have been reading comics since I was about 5 or so. I'm pretty sure my first comic was a Gold Key Star Trek. I used to regularly pick up Conan, Batman, Plastic Man, and Adventure Comics (I think) starring that Starman from outer space. The one drawn by Ditko. I wouldn't be comics reader at all if my dad hadn't been a Conan and Thor fan.

I started with TMNT and The Flash at 6, but I think I really started seriously at 10 or 11 with Knightfall and Death of Superman.

I'm 26 now.

It's interesting that some of you started at a young age, then stopped for a while then came back.

Those of you who started reading as a kid - has it been pretty consistent ever since then? As in, did you start reading and never stop?

I stopped for two long stretches. Both times because a comic shop was no longer conveniently located

You know, everytime I started a new relationship, I stopped reading, if only briefly. Anyone else?

5 or 6 to start with, reading random comics I'd find at my grandparents or the grocery store. In 6th grade, I started reading G.I. Joe regularly, picking it up at the 7-11. Soon followed by ROM, soon followed by my first foray into a LCS.

I collected regularly through senior year of h.s., then stopped cold turkey. Comics had nothing to offer me then (that I knew of) that I couldn't get from books. I dabbled from time-to-time, but didn't get serious about comics again until 2006.

Don't get me started on Rom! Or the Micronauts!

The first book I remember getting was X Men Unlimited #1 but I know I had comics before then. I remember the cover saying "Issue #1 Collectors Item" damn speculators. So I was like 10-11yrs old by then, fell out of comics at like 13 then got back into it when I was 19-20ish, and I am 25 now.

when i was in 4th grade, my teacher's best friend was Joe Kelly so she would give us some issues he sent to her to try to get us into reading. it worked, i really wanted to get into comics, but whenever i went to the store, i picked up whatever Spider-man or Batman or X-Men issue was on stands and i couldn't understand it so i lost interest.

this happened about four times. i saw a rad movie like Spider-man 2 or X2 and tried to buy a comic, but i couldn't understand it. I finally got into comics with Civil War and i've been reading every week since. but honestly, i probably wouldn't be reading comics today if it weren't for podcasts like iFanboy and Around Comics. they really helped me through the rough patches that everyone has when they start out. thanks guys

ive been reading comics in and out since i was 8, but i've been an "every wednesday" guy since i was 15

i am now 17

Congrats dude, this must be a really fun time for you. Having a huge selection of awesome books that are still fresh to you must be really nice. Although that feeling you need to learn everything about the classic characters can be frustrating.

@llauranzoniii

Not too much. You guys here have been really great. But yes I'm devouring soooo much. The only superhero stuff I'm reading is Astonishing X-Men and Final Crisis, The Killing Joke was read too. I have others on the list though and I'll get to those soon.

But yeah it's a lot of fun.
