WTF man? Why do you have to start this?

I think he's just yanking everybody's chain. He's laughing his ass off in France or somewhere.
When he looks back on his life and lists his biggest regrets, I doubt this will rank up there.
However, Robert should keep a close eye on his mother and sibling. Christian Bale is lurking out there somewhere in the night. Beware!

Downey needs to sit his hoe ass down and follow that Dark Knight drip. SPLASH!

It's a little bit of movie penis envy. Apparently Quesada's gotten in his ear.
Next year's Oscar noms: Downey for Iron Man and Ledger for Batman? Impossible?

For Downey, yes, impossible.

It's like a Ferrari engine of storytelling and script writing and I'm like, 'That's not my idea of what I want to see in a movie.' Clearly he is kidding with this whole thing.

I can't believe that people are actually getting upset about this.
I think it's pretty obvious he's just being a showman. He's playing the Tony Stark role here. It's a feigned bravodo, people.
Relax!
Go bitch about Kirkman or something.

For Downey, yes, impossible.
what he did wasn't really acting per se, he was being himself
his performance in Tropical Thunder had more real acting in it
Ledger, maybe, but just because he's dead

There's no way of knowing, but I think he would have gotten a nomination anyway. He's been there before, and if you consider that the academy has been open-minded enough to nominate other genre performances like Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean, I think he would have been a contender either way. Again, no way of knowing.

And even if RDJ is NOT kidding with his comments... who cares? He's allowed to not like TDK and DC Comics, just like anyone else. There are worse things one can do in the world than talk some playful smack about your "Distinguished Competition".

I don't see what the big deal is. If he's joking, it's fairly amusing, and if he's not, he didn't like the movie. Who cares?

I don't know... if he isn't joking its kind of a dickish thing to do. I mean it would be like an Olympic swimmer talking crap about Phelps. Its bad sportsmanship.

Sure, but... is there a law against being dickish? I might think, "Hey, RDJ is a bit of a dick," and then go on with my life.
I just get the sense from watching him promote "Iron Man" and "Tropic Thunder" that he's been through so much crap in his life that he just doesn't give a shit what people think of him anymore. And I respect that.

And I don't. I don't think its ever okay to stop being polite. It just bothers me that he is now someone younger people will look up to and he chooses to be a dick. He just starred in a superhero movie that was made for both adults and kids. Kids are now looking up to him and they see that its okay to be a dick because your life is hard. Blah.
I'm not loosing sleep over it but I'm not going to high five him for flaming.

Sometimes you've got to stop being polite... and start being real.*

No, sure, and I'm all for politeness. But so many people are so concerned what other people are going to think about what they do or say, that I've really got some respect for a dude who's willing to speak his mind. Conversely, I'm anti-rudeness, so hey, I guess I don't know what I think about it.
Meh. "Iron Man" was awesome.
