Anything but the current run?
Anything by Geoff Johns and/or Mark Waid. Those guys wrote some great, great Flash stories. They're not really in any order (although looking inside the cover tells you what issues they collect), but are collected based upon the storyline.
Good stuff.

Whats wrong with the current run?

Short answer "it's pants". Long answer it's lost it's way and has an air of panic about making it work. Like when Richie left happy days and they started putting in new carathers to fill the void. The diffrence being that in flash Richie/Wally is still there but he's become potsey.
I love all the older waid stuff and I'm making my way through the johns stuff at the moment. Either run is easy to get into but the Waid stuff might seem a little dated and the art gets worse later in the run.

Well they have a new team starting on the next issue, so you could start there.
Actually I haven't minded this run, yea it's average but it's ok. I've read worse.

I know that Ron is the die-hard Flash fan and I want to say that it was Waid's tenure that got him hooked.
Would y'all say that Waid's or Johns' run was better? I only ask because I was at the local Half Price bookstore last night and someone had sold their entire collection of back issues including an almost complete run of the Flash.
All comic back issues are $.50 and last night I bought almost all of Grant Morrison's New X-Men run. I want to go back today and pick up some Flash stuff as I have never read much Flash before. However, I can't buy all of them so I was wondering which is better? I am leaning towards Johns so that I can pick up Rogue's Revenge and get right into Rebirth next year.
What say you?

I read much of Johns' Flash and it was great. I've read some of Waid's Flash and it was great, too. However, I'd recommend buying the Waid stuff simply because it seems to be harder to track down. The Johns' run would be easier to track down, and you don't need to have read it before Rogue's Revenge.
Also, if the Waid issue available are the ones drawn by Mike Wieringo, I'd absolutely recommend those.

Thanks, I did not read your post before I went over there but I will go back and look when I can. I bought about 45 issues of the Johns run as well as most of his GL run up to the Sinestro Corps. It is so crazy, they have most of the current Teen Titans, Green Arrow/Black Canary, all the recent Avenger/Secret Invasion stuff, probably a 120 issues of adjective-less X-Men (of which I bought about 30 issues of the Grant Morrison stuff), all the current Flash (including Fastest Man Alive which I hear isn't very good) and more, all for $0.50.
Oh yeah, and all the the One More Day/Brand New Day ASM to date too.

That's awesome! The comics at the Half Priced Books here are just half of the cover price, which is still really nice for current stuff, but not nearly as sweet as 50 cents.

They are usually half cover here too and I was only going to get some issues of GL in the 140's (Story with the first Ion appearance) and they guy rang them up for $0.50. And I was like, 'They are only $0.50? I will be right back.' Their back issue section has been stagnant for a while, maybe they just want to move the inventory.

Both Johns' and Waid's runs are fantastic comics. I prefer Waid's, but only just slightly more.

There was a part of Waid's run I really dug that I have been unable to find in trade form. It was the one that ended with the other Wally showing up with the silver lighting bolt on his chest. I think it was the lightning crisis or something.
I would love to get my hands on that.

Yeah you can't go wrong with either. I liked Johns run a little more but Waid still did a great job. I think the first collected trade of Johns Flash run is the Wonderland arc. I could be wrong though.

Yeah, "Wonderland" is the name of the first trade in Johns' run on The Flash. I've recently started trying to get those trades myself. I'm through the first 2 trades, but I think it was the 3rd and 4th ones that are a little tough to find. Particularly the 4th.

I was thinking of reading some Flash comics and was wonder what is a good one to get to get into it, I know the main The Flash is at like 200+ I was wonder when is a good jump in point, or a graphic novel that more or less tells you everything up to anything. Thanks

Any Geoff Johns or Mark Waid trade of the Flash is quality.
Wait for John/Sciver's Falsh Rebirth if you want to read Flash monthly.
FYI: There is never a "good jumping on point" in monthly comics. You just start reading.

Here's a toughie:
Are there any good Jay Garrick stories? Not JSA stuff but stories just about him. I have a feeling I'm stuck with golden age stuff arent I?

I'm going to start reading the Flash with Rebirth.

Sorry if it's been said, but you can always just pick up the Final Crisis: Rogue's Revenge mini. Didn't have anything really to do with Final Crisis, and introduces you to some of the main rogues. It might be a tad confusing at first, but for the most part its very accessible and serves as a fresh setup for Rebirth. Plus you get amazing Kolins art!!
I picked up all of Johns' run, except can't find the Crossfire trade for a reasonable price, and his stuff with Kolins is definitely the best. So kinetic and just jam packed with action. Each arc is certainly accessible. As it has always been stated, Johns' is the current king of making his comics accessible.
