Hi,

I'm having trouble viewing the new TRS, episode 75, large xvid. There's about 4 Rev3 shows I watch every single week for the past year or so; and this is the only issue I've had in a long time...so you guys do a great job considering all of the file formats available.

I stream the .xvid files to my xbox 360 for playback. Some other shows I've watched this week with no issue are: Ifanboy, episode 84 large xvid, your comic book voicemail; Tekzilla, episode 47, large xvid. I exclusively download the large xvid file formats.

So not a big deal, but it doesn't appear that the issue would be on my end since I'm not having trouble with anything else. Just wanted to make you guys aware of it in the event something with the TRS show large xvid was encoded a little differently this time.

Also, when I check the file out on my computer, it will not play on it either; but seems to be the correct file size so not an issue with the download. (613 MB).

And, if I'm wrong and you think the issue is on my end, please give me any ideas you may have. Thanks again for all the great content.

my setup:

running Win XP, sp 3
browsing Firefox v. 3.0.1
streaming to Xbox 360 via ethernet.
problem file: TRS, episode 75, Geekdipointment, large xvid
Xbox sees file but will not play it, says it is not a supported file format. File will not play directly on computer either.

What client are you trying to view the file with on your PC?

I am able to watch it without any issues using VLC on Windows XP.

I view them on my PC with Windows media player. I had installed all the proper codecs to allow it to do so. Apparently, after browsing the forums, I'm not the only one having the issue. Around 3 other people have reported it in this thread.

The large xvid seems to have a corrupt AVI header. Have downloaded it twice now and fails to play.

Also corrupt for me. This is the first time I've had a problem with a Rev3 dl so it came as a surprise. Please advise or correct.

Not denying it's still on our end; but something seems to be different with the encoding or headers on this one.

We're going to re-encode the xvids and re-upload.

Ok, thanks for your help. Just downloaded the Ifanboy episode that came up a few minutes ago, episode 85 (Y the Last Man), large xvid. No problems whatsoever. kinda weird, huh?

Could have been caused by the hiccup from yesterday... :(

Thanks :)

Edit: Hmm the new encode seems to be 1.09GB is this correct? Previous 1hr+ TRS large xvid encodes have been around the 600-700MB size, has there been a bitrate increase error?

yea, I had noted that, we're looking into it. Thanks.
Thanks :)

I have been experiencing this exact same issue with the Xvid files as well on occassion. I prefer the Xvids for streaming from my media center to the 360 also, so hopefully it reamins as just a few random issues. I had been using the Xvids for the longest time without issue until the past couple weeks. And thanks to the Rev3 staff for responding so quickly to the issue!

This is the only one I've had the problem on. But maybe I don't watch enough of the shows to catch everything. If you know of other ones that haven't worked, post em so they can look into those, too. Xvid works beautifully on the 360, doesn't it?

Yeah, I will post any show I come across where I have issues with the Xvids. And the Xvids do look the best in my opinion through the 360, plus the files sizes are a bit smaller than the HD feeds.
