Not sure what to think but if the original director comes back then maybe it should be ok,he kept it dark enough to relate to the comics so might be good hopefully.

Holy cow, really?
That could be awesome! COULD be! I was very satisfied with the recent CGI film and would definitely be pleased to see another one...
But a reboot would be cool as well I think. That article says that Imagi is working on this one, though, so would that mean it would be CGI turtles in live the live action movie? Don't think I'd want that....

I'm really kinda happy about this, I would love to see a GOOD dark reboot of the series, since batman did it and they might do it with superman....why not TMNT?
I loved the first 2(even 3 since i was still young enough to enjoy it)
the CGI one wasnt bad either...so yeah im looking forward to this one

I loved the first two Ninja Turtles movies and thought the CG one was pretty good too. The third movie wasn't so good, but it still has a nice place in my heart. The live action movies really had a great humor and charm to them. While the CG one didn't have those aspects it did have great action and scope. Personally I would like CG movie directed as if it were live action. I think that may have a chance to be the best of both worlds.

I was dissapointed when I found out the last TMNT was a kids movie. I still haven't seen it, so I don't know if it's any good or not. But I think they should make a movie for people who were fans of the original movies. We're adults now, I would like to see a TMNT for adults.
I don't nessiceraly think it has to be dark or rated R or anything. Just directed to older fans.

I will go see this, although this whole "reboot" trend is starting to get on my nerves.

The CG movie wasn't bad actually. Give it a shot. I would like a more adult oriented TMNT movie as well tho! drop the one liners about pizza and get on with the good stuff.

First film was aimed at an older crowd since it was based after the comics.
2nd film went corny because parents complained the first was too violent and used weapons(and back then the cartoon raped the comics concept)
Years ago before TMNT was alive again and the TMNT site was about dead the creators held emails every monday so I emailed them asked what they thought of the cartoon in the 80's. They hated the 80's series, they had no creative control and turned their creation into a farce but since back then young and it gave them flows of money what can you do.
So with them trying to get the director of the first film.
I think they will go back to the darker roots of the series.

Thank God. I want the angry raphael back, maybe give him an addiction problem for some drama haha jk

Did they say why they wanted to do live action? I mean, I didn't much care for the cgi film, but Leo and Raph's fight was quite spectacular and the turtles looked pretty good.

all articles are specifying that it will be a Live action project IF they move forward with it.

I would love it. I still watch the firt two movies on a pretty reglar basis and would be all for another live action, as long as it's people in suits still.

This is boggling my mind that you people think the old TMNT movies were good(or even more mind bogglingly "not kids movies").
I mean sure, I watched them as a kid and loved them. Kids are also retarded. I've seen them recently and they're terrible. Guys in plastic suits=can't do martial arts. Inability to do martial arts+movie about ninjas=grand failure.
They also aren't even remotely "dark", unless you are referring to the lighting(in which case, yes, the movie was extremely dark taking place almost exclusively at night or in the sewers), at least, not when compared to the comics(although yes, it was darker than the Saturday morning cartoon, but that's like saying Yugioh is darker than Pokemon).
As someone who loved the recent cartoon series for its excellent action and over-arcing plotlines, rewatching those old movies is just painful.

No the original director did NOT keep it dark. It was campy (although not too cheesy) and was geared toward kids. How is a PG rating "dark"
That said the 80's cartoon was horrible (yes I still watched) the newer cartoon is better drawn, more like the comic and I have more confidence if Eastman stays as a consultant this time around. Last time Eastmen and Laird simply sold the rights.
Loved the first movie, hated the second because the PTA's got involved and made it soft and the third better but just ok. Eastmen wants it to be truly darker like batman and wants to re-invent the movie taking the recent CG out of the equation.

The original movie is fantastic! Still one of my favorites to this day. It wasn't really dark... some spots with the Shredder, maybe, but thats it. I still like the second one but can't watch it without rolling my eyes at all the stupidly huge continuity errors, and it sucks how the Henson studio made them take out all the weapons. Ah, well...
I'm not sure why Kevin Eastman is doing all this talk about a new Turtles movie. He sold the rest of his shares to Peter Laird not too long ago. It seemed like he wanted to get away from turtles and move on.
I agree watching them now is similar to swallowing a piece of coral. But I still think the original movie is watchable, and it was darker. Its not dark compared to what we have seen today but back in 89 it did have a darker vibe to it at points. (Dealing with Raphaels anger issues, leo watching over his brother waiting for him to wake up, it just had more dramatic imagery) I think if they make a new live action, with good makeup and keep darker vibe it could be a great movie. Make shredder an actual crime ring leader, show actual violence and crimes happening, not just the foot clan jacking TV's, and that the turtles are not impervious to getting hurt in battle...make it real and bring it to life. It could be good. I look forward to it and hope they dont fuck it up.

Who's blog is that? Does he have anything to do with TMNT?
TheMovieBlog.com says its the blog of "Kevin Eastman, Turtles co-creator and current editor of Heavy Metal Magazine"

The 5th Turtle is Steve Murphy's blog. He writes a lot of the comics and is involved with a lot of TMNT stuff.
I knew it all sounded a little too fishy with the story originating from Eastman's site.
The last OFFICIAL thing I heard was that Mirage is talking to a number of different studios for the sequel to last year's film. Imagi is included in these talks. They were happy with what Imagi gave them but are just gauging their options.
i wish they would do a re-imagining...oh well :(
The rumors keep going back and forth on this. Now I guess one of the creators is saying that the new movie will be a HYBRID movie of sorts. The turtles will be full cg and the world around them will be live action for the most part.

Well since its coming from Laird's mouth then its pretty much gospel. As I've said before, it could be cool if done right. I really liked the designs from the CGI film because they were so much closer to the comic books than any other show or movie had been before, but I don't think it'd work out too well when matched up to real life actors and scenery.
I really wish they'd do it in full CGI though. That entire movie just looked fabulous, the environments especially. The night time sky and the New York rooftops were just perfect.
No matter what, though, I'll be happy just seeing another movie out. :D
