View Full Version : TRS vs. Twin Peaks? (DON'T SPOIL IT!!!)

Doesn't seem like the TRS boys are into David Lynch, but have they watched Twin Peaks? Jeff seemed upset about The Shield spoiler, but I think the biggest shame would be someone watching the episode where Laura's killer is revealed on Youtube.
Oh, it's there, but it would be lost on somebody who wasn't invested in the series. I would say it's EASILY the most intense moment on television (were the censors sleeping? Holy &^%!).
If they haven't seen it, the series is extremely short and definitely worth a watch. There would be no X-Files, Lost, etc. without it, and in my humble opinion, it has never been matched by a longshot.
Thoughts?

PS - Keep up the great work fellas!

Wasn't David Duchovny a cross-dressing FBI agent in that show? It makes you wonder where the inspiration for Mulder came from.

Yeah, for about two episodes, right after the resolution of the Laura Palmer murder and before the show picked back up with the next big plotline. I enjoy seeing Duchovny in that part, but the show is at its lowest point during that time.
Originally Fire Walk With Me was going to be a sequel to the show. I'd kill to see what really followed after the Black Lodge sequence.

I have the set of trading cards that they put out when Twin Peaks was running.
I love twin peaks with a passion.

I was friends with laura palmer (sheryl lee) for a while, a couple years ago. Wasn't really that exciting, every time I saw her, I wished she bring sherilyn fenn to dinner.

Is that Fenns name in the show? I think I got into her, because of TP, especially those outfits, and Two Moon Junction was alot for a young teen like me to handle, but that cements her as one of the hottest women ever, plus, she still is today. I love her in Just Write, good movie with Jeremy Piven and my buddy Costas Mandylor. Ooh, also good in Hitman with Forrest Whitaker.

I watched the show religiously when it aired, which was way back when, so I might be wrong, but I think the backwards talk was in Kyle MacLachlans dreams, which was every now and then couple of eps. I liked the show, but was busier loving Northern Exposure (janine turner).

That happens pretty much in the finale of the show, the talking backwards happens with the little person. But the stealing souls isn't exactly how it happens and I don't want to say exactly what it is without giving away spoilers.

I'm an absolute Lynch fanatic. Recently bought the Twin Peaks Gold Box Edition DVD Set... it's great having the whole series in one set finally.
Any thoughts on Inland Empire? I think I passed out about 20 minutes in and have yet to re-rent it... I want to see it because I've seen all his movies, but it seemed a little out there even for him?!?

Inland Empire was great. At three hours long, it definitely has its slow moments, but there were plenty of moments that encapsulate everything I love about his style of filmmaking.
I had the good fortune of seeing it with David Lynch present. That was a pretty neat experience. He's such a sweet guy, which stands in stark contrast to some of the horrifying moments he's commited to film.

Heh, this is what most of my friends said back in college after we had our first viewing of Eraserhead.

I just started watching. I just watch episode 4 I think. I like it a lot. The wierd/funny characters great. Agent Cooper is about one of the coolest characters ever.
Some genuinely creepy moments. Like that dude staring at Laura's mom at crouching at the foot of the bed. And the backwards talking midget.
I really haven't seen much David Lynch stuff, other than Eraserhead (which I loved). But he seems like the kind of film maker I'd be into. I guess I'll have to start adding his stuff to my Netflix.

i know that between them the guys have seen alot of the major stuff from years gone buy, and every now and then when they're referencing something and one of them will say *oh i've never seen that*
i always think it'd be a fun little segment to have them watch a classic / cult film or TV show and see what they think, alot like when they watched It's A Wonderful Life (cant remember if they'd never seen it, or just not seen it for a while). fun as it is to hear them talking about the latest release which none of them enjoyed, maybe if there's nothing that floats their boat out that week they could sit down and rewatch something epic with fresh eyes, i watched 12 Monkeys the other day, and to borrow dan's used phrase *that shit stands up*! maybe trail it the week before as they do the new releases and encourage viewers to watch it aswell *so next week we're watching North by Northwest!*...which, as mentioned recently, is a fantastic film
and yeah Twin Peaks would be perfect, though would obviously take a little longer!
