When I was really deep into comics, there were three HUGE names for me: Alan Moore, Warren Ellis, and Grant Morrison.
I really like the comic segments when the guys talk about a creator's different works, and they've tackled Moore and Ellis, so I think it would be great for them to talk about Morrison's work as well.
His magnum opus, The Invisibles, may lean a little to the headier side for Dan and Alex's tastes, but his run on New X-Men and the current run of All-Star Superman are both great superhero focused stories. He's also currently running Final Crisis for DC, but as I've sworn of "Event series" I haven't really read it.
I'm guessing as most of the people on the board are well versed in comics as a whole, most of you have read some of Morrison's work. Thoughts?

My big names are Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman and Warren Ellis. I'm also a big fan of Bendis before he became a Marvel whore following his brilliant run on Daredevil, Brian K. Vaughn and Mike Carey.
Arkham Asylum is one of my favorite Batman books, and it is earlier Morrison.
His run on X-Men was pretty entertaining, but I enjoyed the Whedon stuff that followed it up a lot more.
Invisibles has been on that "need to read" list that I just haven't gotten back around to yet.

I'd say the biggest right now would be:
Morrison, Johns, Brubaker, Kirkman and Bendis
Morrison's run on JLA is one of the best superhero runs ever.

These are certainly my favorite 3 writers. I'm not really a fan of super hero comics although from time to time I do read some. These guys do the best job that I know of in terms of non super hero books. If anyone has any suggestions on similar writers and specific non super hero examples I'd love to hear them.

I haven't read a lot of comics. But of what I've read Grant Morrison is my favorite.
The Invisbles is probably my favorite series ever. Followed closely by Sandman by Gaiman.
I think Alex would Morrison since he says he in to the whole extradimentional/space-time mind-bendery.
Morrisons run on Animal Man was really good. Issue #5 blew my brains.

Grant Morrison is unparalleled, he's a comic book genius, bested only by...Garth Ennis of course.

Love me some Fell and almost all Warren Ellis stuff. Garth Ennis, Neil Gaiman, Grant Morrison and Alan Moore are some other favorites of mine but I'm also a big fan of little smaller stuff like "It's a bird" (one of two superman books I like, the other is Red Son) and "Sleeper". Also Craig Thompson's stuff, especially Goodbye Chunky Rice is wonderful.

That's true, since Alan Moore built stairs up to his own level and then tore them down so no one else could follow.

Mike Carey is a friggin' genius, and his series Lucifer is one of my absolute favorite series ever. It is based on the character from the Sandman series, and the stuff that he does with him is mindblowingly good. People tend to shy away from this series since the central figure is "evil", but they don't understand what they are missing.
If you want to try something from Carey that is much less ambitious and easier to digest, his Hellblazer storyline "All His Engines" is one of the better John Constantine stories.

You don't think he attempted as much with his wife or their lover?
