Please start spreading the word around. I live in Baton Rouge in Louisiana and the only reason I can get on the internet is that my work is running on generators.

The National News are only focusing on New Orleans not flooding and not looking at the devastation of the rest of Louisiana. Almost all of Louisiana is without power with some not getting power for another 4-6 weeks. And trees have fallen on houses or uprooted everywhere: http://www.2theadvocate.com/multimedia/27778004.html. There are only a few gas stations running generators that have gas and people are running out of gas just waiting in the over 2 hour lines to fill up. There are barely any grocery stores open due to no power and FEMA didn't get any supplies to us until Wednesday because they prepositioned them in Texas away from where they would be needed. FEMA actually has been doing a good job in recovery, but we need power, we need supplies, we need better attention. The only thing I can figure that is causing this lack of attention is the fact that only 10 people were killed from Gustav in Louisiana instead of the thousands during Katrina. Please spread the word out to everyone about this devastation and maybe the National News will pick it up.

They have said that Gustav was worse than Katrina, Rita or even Andrew in 1995, due to total devastation in Louisiana and the total sustained winds felt of 60 mph with gusts of 91 for 2 entire days. The only hurricane that can compete was Betsy in the 70s.

Keep your heads up. After Katrina we had a bunch of students up from Lousiana colleges in our classes. They were good folks. I sympathize.

I am not sure which news you are seeing in Louisianna, but coverage seems to be pretty even ... especially since Baton Rouge was one of the places people evacuated to.

News stories are saying that they went somewhere that got hit (because of rain) even worse than New Orleans.

Powerlines can only be fixed so fast, ditto on resupplying gas stations that were sucked dry by people leaving the cities.

It will get better. The state was prepared for it this time ... but it still takes time to get the resources out to places that need it.

I also have to admit that when I first hit the link, I thought Gustav was a new software--I need a nap.

I think we're all a little of what's not covered at this point. I don't know if anyone can forget Katrina and how much worse it was than shown. New Orleans is where my dad's family is from, Frenchies. My dad grew up there. New Orleans being thrashed time and again is like my dad being ruined over and over. Those god-damned hurricanes need to stop.
