My friend isn't a comic book reader. It's not that she doesn't like comics or thinks they're immature, it's just the stuff she's read in the past never clicked. She likes the movies, but doesn't bother to read the source material.
So she just finished that Twilight series and needed something else to read before class and at work. Taking a chance and going out on a limb, I gave her the first trade of Y: The Last Man to see if she might be interested. I got a call from her later today, telling me she's hooked and needs the next few volumes for work.
THAT, made me feel really good.
So I dropped-off the next three volumes, and added the first two of Fables. I'm not going to start cramming VERTIGO titles down her throat (not yet, anyways), but I figured since she likes fantasy stuff like Harry Potter and Twilight, why not give Fables a try?
But alas, now I wait. But I feel great that I might have possibly opened the door to another medium for her. Excelsior!
