My friend isn't a comic book reader. It's not that she doesn't like comics or thinks they're immature, it's just the stuff she's read in the past never clicked. She likes the movies, but doesn't bother to read the source material.

So she just finished that Twilight series and needed something else to read before class and at work. Taking a chance and going out on a limb, I gave her the first trade of Y: The Last Man to see if she might be interested. I got a call from her later today, telling me she's hooked and needs the next few volumes for work.

THAT, made me feel really good.

So I dropped-off the next three volumes, and added the first two of Fables. I'm not going to start cramming VERTIGO titles down her throat (not yet, anyways), but I figured since she likes fantasy stuff like Harry Potter and Twilight, why not give Fables a try?

But alas, now I wait. But I feel great that I might have possibly opened the door to another medium for her. Excelsior!

Good job, another reader enters the fold. Now you need to email her a link to the Y:TLM ep of iFanboy, then she will be hooked fo' sho'.

That non-comic comic reader I got hooked on Y: The Last Man? I now got her hooked on Fables!

I also added the first two trades of Ex Machina, and told her it was also written by BKV. She's now mad at me because I'm totally turning her into a geek. :D

What are you planning on slipping in next?

If I had to guess I'd say to Walking Dead to prep her for Invincible which will then be the final bridge in to mainstream superhero books.

You should try her on Pride of Baghdad too. And We3. I'd also recommend Strangers in Paradise to a non-comic book reader. I've left the 1st volume out for my sister to read... she's just taking her time on bothering to pick it up :o

She really liked the relationships in Y, so I was definitely thinking of SiP next for her.

I'll totally introduce her to Pride of Baghdad if she enjoys BKV's stories in Ex Machina.

I guess my cousin saw a copy of DKR at a friends house, and read the first couple pages. He liked the idea of sequential art (hes an artist) a lot, and as an avid reader, decided it might be something he likes. He came over today and asked me to compile a list of things he might like.

I guess this may end up being my good deed.

On the other hand, is she single?

Yes, I'm willing to be that guy! :D
