View Full Version : Show Timing

I've received 20-30 form emails regarding criticism for Revision3 and the late release of Geekdrome.

To be blunt: The more sophiticated we get, and the more we develop our automation, the more predictable show releases have become. We've only recently brought on new staff to address these issues (both human and technology) and we think we have a solution.

Still, we agree that the lack of consistency is unacceptable.

Therefore, given the various time constraints on encoding and upload times, we're going to push our release times for Geekdrome out to Tuesday. We'd rather be consistent than late.

Sorry for the trouble, folks. We _will_ speed things up soon.

Thanks,

-Jay

Just remember, the day it comes out on a Wednesday again, there's gonna be bloodshed and broken action figures.

Kidding aside, thanks man. We all appreciate knowing that we get heard.

being one of the people who mailed you Jay I hope you know that not all of the e-mails were criticisms. Mine was simply a request, I know how hard everyone works on all the revision3 materials. Please know that everything you guys do is *greatly* appreciated.

If people are complaining they have to wait a day or two for a free show over the holidays, then ****'em.

What the hell is wrong with people. These guys are doing this right now because they love it, not because they get fat checks at the end of the day.

Definitley, thanks for the aknowledgement, nice to know we're heard. Thanks Jay.

Maybe if you were here longer than 4 posts, you'd realize that this isn't due to the holiday, it's been late every week since relaunch. Tuesday is good, as longs it's sure to come out on time, then we can all wait another day rather than spending on day monday refreshing the page.

I think most people (on the forums at least, I don't know about any emails sent) were complaining more about the lack of a regular schedule and the lack of communication from the people in charge, than complaining about a delay. That's why people don't have a problem now, about the show being on Tuesdays, and appreciate that Jay is letting us know these things.

This had absolutely nothing to do with the holidays and it wasn't based on a single incident. Every single week Geekdrome has been released late since Rev3 relaunched it's site and it happened quite oftenly before that. Plenty of times it was Jon and Dan's fault and they usually came to the forums to notify us that it'd be running a little late. When that happens we understand. When it's Rev3's fault week after week it's a different story. Jay aknowledged it was a problem and that staff has been hired and part of their job is addressing it. Its not just the fans, but the hosts who deserve to have their show released on time.

It doesn't help that I (along with several other members, I'm sure) received private messages on the forums complete with a *form letter* to address this complaint.

While I agree that the inconsistency is a problem, we have to keep in mind that Geekdrome ISN'T really a Rev3 product, and that it's hosted here out of their (Rev3's) generosity. If the fans start to get to be a pain in the ass, what do YOU think is going to happen? So I didn't send in a complaint.

I'm also disturbed that whoever organized this email campaign (I know who sent it to me but I'm witholding that name out of respect for their privacy) decided to do it via private message... in secret, as it were. If you have to hide it, you shouldn't do it.

Who does Thundercat have to blow to get our cursing priviledges back?

I want to F U C K I N G say bad words just like Dick Cheney!

Get your pencils at the ready, folks!

By the way, I was the one who sent PMs to all the people, Diela. So if you don't like it you can just get your hair teased by Ralph Snart. hahahahaahah

I've been so inconsistent with the day I personally listen I felt I had no right to complain myself.

But it's still nice to know that there will be a set day to expect the new eps.

Check the join date. Ive been here longer than you, I just dont post.

Im fully aware of when the shows come out. What im saying is people should'nt be so quick to start a petition when they are getting a great product for free.
If it is a problem that is out of Rev3's hands, then they will address it. Otherwise, chalk it up to schedules and time conflicts.
Im really surprised from the sounds of things that so many people were pissed off about it.

Sign up dates and post counts don't mean anything. You're not an active member of the community and I believe this is what Toasty was addressing. I lurked the boards long before I registered my name too, can I get a prize and does that mean what I say is more important than what a newb says? I don't think so even if some of you do.

Call me old fashioned but I don't value your opinion on the issue Lordstandley because I think what you said was stupid, not because you don't post here very often.

Well I dont give a sh** what you think of the comment. I took one of two sides of the argument, and you have shown your ignorance by not accepting the other side of that said argument.
I have been on these forums for quite some time and just dont post. Take that as you will. I combed the boards quite often before I joined, and quite often after I joined, but dont find myself posting on yet another forum for whatever reason.
As for my comment, it comes form someone who listens to the show regularly and has as much meaning as anyone who posts here daily.
You dont like that, then **** you.

I fully understood your point of view. It's just that you're wrong and I don't value your opinion. Ignorance isn't the correct word to describe that.

I'm not saying that I'm right just because I'm an asshole and "I say so". I'm right because you used a false example in your statement about the show being late because of the holidays. That's not why it was late and that's not why we were complaining. Ignorance would be the correct word to describe that. Douche bag...

haha, thanks Klitzy. It's been quite an interesting day. Nice to see a reply from Jay, though, and I think that's as far as this thread is supposed to go.

and to Diela, it wasn't a secretive effort in the least, pm's are the only way to contact each other to make sure people get the message. If you look above, you'll see why I didn't post it. Nothing would've gotten done. Something did. Problem solved. And I pm'ed Jay as well and there are a lot of people who wrote their own stuff. It's the way you get your voice heard when there's someone as busy as Jay who has the right to ignore random stuff from the forums. When something important comes up, it's your responsibility to let those in power know, because they might not know the severity or even about the existence of it; and that is exactly what we did :)

Now everyone go to the other threads, they're much more interesting and constructive than arguing something that's argued in just about every forum on this entire site with two people making the same points about the two sides on either issue, it's pointless. Enjoy your lives, and enjoy the drome.

Love, Brian.
