So as the new school semester starts, I am left with a question. I am planning to pick up a laptop, to be more specific an Apple MacBook. With the rumors of changes to design pending I have been hesitant to pick one up for the start of school this year.

This brings me to the question....

Should I just say screw it and buy it now?

OR

Wait until they possibly announce a new model/version?

Thanks for the help.

Unfortunately, we're only allowed to comment on products featured on Apple.com. Store employees aren't notified of any new products until everyone else is. Therefore, we can't confirm nor deny any upcoming Apple products.

Sorry, I worked today.

I respect that. I am just on the fence. One side of me says to just pick it up now and not to worry because Apple *always* finds a way to update their products. The other side of me says that if I wait the possible month I could be in store for something nice and shiny. It's been driving me crazy for the past two weeks, hence I brought my dilemma here.

Seems like Scoobydiesel is right, wait a bit. (http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#MacBook) Couldn't hurt.

See and I checked that earlier this week and it stated buy if you need one, approaching end of cycle. I have heard there announcement on the 9th has to do with the possible iTunes 8.0 and was hoping that they would just make a huge announcement and announce the updates macbook, macbook pro. etc.

Thanks Scoobydiesel, Thanks Samureye

They really don't tell their employees before stuff happens. I'd say wait a little bit. I waited for the 3g iPhone and boy am I glad.

On the other hand, my iBook died in 2006 during my final project for my graphic design degree, and the new Macbook JUST came out... I got it, and a little bit later they updated them and now I'm stuck with this crappy hd capacity jerk.

Nobody knows for sure. Again, wait til after the 9th at least. A change should be coming sometime soon, so wait it out, or at least til the 9th. There's talk that the Macbook stuff isn't happening til October. So maybe wait til Christmas when you'll get a deal for existing hardware. I assume Apple has Christmas deals at least.

I put "til" 4 times in there. Thanks Google Chrome.

Heh, unfortunately true.

But in this area, Apple's backyard, rumors run stronger when something's true. Too many HQ employees around talking. I'll almost guarantee a new MacBook Pro...very soon. Wait a little while longer.

Wait until the 9th (its only next week) ... then (if nothing happens to the Macbook lines) get the educational deal with the free iPod before the 15th.

Remember - if you can show school ID, then you get the educational rate as well which is $100-$150 off.
