Ive played just about every MMO out there. Got a lvl 70 mage/priest in wow fully raid geared but i left WoW and went back to EQ1 some time ago.

Just curious if anyone else on here plays?

Im in a casual raiding guild on Firona Vie right now rocking a 80 WAR and 77 Cleric and 65 shammy.

Hi,

I used to play eq1 and eq2 a lot before I moved onto WoW. :)

Got a 70 ranger in eq1 and 80 ranger in EQ2.

But I got kinda bored of the MMO games really so play mostly console games for the time being. :)

Plays...present tense?

No. I played for like 5 years and stopped soon right around the time Burnding Crusade came out.

I had a rogue, he was level...whatever the cap was at the time. I was in an endgame guild for a couple of the expansions(Velious through Planes of Power I think). But eventually, I came to hate the entire culture of raiding...SO MUCH...that when I tried WoW, I was having so much fun just...not raiding, that I left EQ forever, and to this day, even though I'm all maxed out in Warcraft, I still don't raid. I do everything a person can possibly do short of being in a big raid guild because I just dread the hell out of it.

It really didn't help matters that I played a rogue in both games. When I started playing EQ, the Thief games were my favorite PC games, so thats why I went rogue. Needless to say, playing a rogue in EQ is nothing like playing Thief(not that the WoW rogue is anything like thief either but...). Being a rogue in EQ involves standing behind a mob, turning on autoattack and pressing your backstab/evade macro every 10 seconds. And that's it. It was like that for like 5 expansions before they started adding in "abilities" in Planes. And even then, all those abilities were useless.

Contrasting the Warcraft rogue, where you got a ton of different abilities, that had real effects on what was going on around you. Sneaking up to two mobs guarding a door, distracting them to get them to turn around, sapping one, ambushing the other, building up combo points, finishing him off, going after the other one...that shit was just so much fun then. Hell, I still find it fun.

thats why ill never go back to EQ1 sadly.

I have a 65 shaman and i cant imagine grinding out 20 levels. The thought of making a new character and grinding 85 levels in the way that game slowly levels is just incredible, i could never do it i think. I just did 70 levels in like 11 or so played days in WoW. I just cant see going back. Sadly.

how.

that makes me kinda sad and kinda happy at once. I mean if i can get my shaman from 65 to 75 or above in a week or 2 without living in the game, i would come back maybe.

What is the down time like?

I played EQ1 from 1999-2004. The sick twisted part of my brain kind of misses it hehe.
