Does anyone here use LinkedIn (www.linkedin.com)? Do you find it to be useful for it's intended purpose of job networking or finding talent in general? If you use it, have you paid for the additional pay features it offers?

I have a bare bones profile I created to check it out, but it's not like myspace so much where you can just kind of surf around and check people out. I haven't fully decided if I need or should make use of it, and if I did, I'm not entirely certain what purpose I would utilize it for: finding myself a job, or finding smart people...

But anyways, right now I'm just wondering if anyone here has used it and if it's met your expectations.

Thanks!

Hmm. Maybe I should have asked... does anyone even know what LinkedIn is? Yeah. Maybe that's better ;)

I'm just starting to use it too. Looks like it has potential as a good tool, but I'm also a new user of it so I can't offer too much info about experiences with the paid features.

The more I use it, the more uncomfortable I get with the availability of information to unregistered users.

I realize LinkedIn is for networking, but I don't like that an unregistered user can do a google search and then a public profile on me comes up as search result.

I still have exploring to do at the site, but for now it doesn't seem all that useful. Maybe if membership increases the site will be a better resource. I did a search for other members who went to my alma mater and found only 4 people who graduated the same year I did.

Anyone else use LinkedIn?
