View Full Version : Does the Hak5 crew need a new camera?

Is anyone else besides me getting a blurry picture when they watch this show? It feels like I'm watching a 1970s-era analog signal. All of the other Rev3 shows have a clean, crisp picture. Why does the picture on this show look so bad in comparison?

EDIT: I just noticed this thread. (http://revision3.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22405) Never mind.

No, your not seeing things, I get the blurry video too. Maybe they should think about tightening up their shot so they are not so far away from the camera and make themselves a smaller set. All the other Rev3 shows have spoiled us with their professional look and sets, but the Hak5 guys should definitely look at moving in closer to the camera to avoid giving us blurry video to look at each week. At least in my opinion. I actually came to the forum to see if someone else had started a thread about this and I am happy to see that there is already.

How many times is the Hak5 crew going to have to respond to this sort of topic? I've seen it answered now at least 5 times in 5 different threads...and I've probably missed a couple.

ok, once again,
The first couple episodes are blurry due to a cabling issue that we didn't notice until the episdoes were being edited.
This has been resolved in episode 403 onward.

As for cameras? we're using Panasonic SD-9 HD cameras. But because we don't have all of the HD equipment, we're shooting over composite with them instead of HDMI.

As for what we're trying to do, please see darren's thread on our plan for HD.

"Does the Hak5 crew need a new camera?"

The correct answer is: OF COURSE THEY DO.

If anyone wants to donate one to them, please go ahead and do so, I am sure that having extra equipment can't hurt them at all.

I think you'll agree that it is indeed better than 401 and 402.

However remember, we're not HD yet, but we're close!

Use Search Function Blah blah blah . .

They said the first two episodes, and that 403 onwards would be better. 403 is still blurry. It looks really bad. Thus the original post is valid and everyone talking about "zomg use search!" needs to stfu. Carry on . . .

Yeah 403 still looks bad. Someone needs to figure out the problem and fix it.

Start by getting a better light setup.

For a few guys and a few girls putting together a weekly program using consumer grade equipment while drinking hundreds of bottles of Becks and still holding day jobs and doing it in a city that isn't associated with major video production, it looks fine. You people need to learn to be a bit more realistic. Just because they are being distributed by Revision3 doesn't mean they have the deep pockets of Revision3's investors. Try putting together your own studio without winning the Powerball jackpot or taking out a second mortgage on your house and you'll see that it ain't so easy.

Revision3 isn't producing this show. Hak5 is doing it on their own budget, which appears to be run mostly by stickers and their day jobs. They do good. Stop complaining and try making your own show.

The show most definetly is run with donations and a very tight budget. But we're getting extremely close to HD now (many thanks to you guys!) :D
