According to Huffington Post, "anonymous" the group that went after the Scientologists, hacked SP's private email account. Their justification was that in order to hide her interactions from FOI requests, she used a yahoo account. I don't know what was in it--er private email is none of my business--but It's pretty humorous. I think they have just released some screen caps and have zipped the rest.

it was an unknown private email account. it was erased at the same time as the known private email account.
what gets me is palin and her group doesn't understand that the infomation isn't gone. they were on yahoo. that info is still there and i am sure at some point will be subpenaed

Its my understanding that it was a 4Chan thing (yay), but nevertheless, I find it humorous.

Many separate groups operate under the blanket on Anonymous.
Palin was apparently using her "personal" Yahoo account for government business, showing a lack of concern for security.

Palin was apparently using her "personal" Yahoo account for government business, showing a lack of concern for security. The concern wasn't security (altough, it isfar from secure), and an official in public office the concern was accountability.
By using an email address outside the system, she was not logging official correspondence, and as such was not allowing herself to be accountable.
Nothing wrong with a Y! account for personal use, and I know that I use my gmail account for company business occassionally (when our mail server is unavialable), but a Gov needs to be held at a higher standard of public scrutiny. I guess by using an account that got hacked she is getting all the scrutiny she needs :)
Oh well - its a VP position anyway. Cheney established that the VP operates outside the walls of accountability long ago.

Security when it comes to personal messages is one thing, and quite another with government messages. I've been hearing more about how she may have done this because her personal mail can't be subpoenaed without cause, making it easier to hide what she's been doing.

Your personal mail is not subject to FOI requests. I think that was her main motivation.

The latest news is that they were about to get almost twice as much data, but John "Lord Geritol" McCain whipped out his trust Blackberry--the original, the one he built--and employed counter measures to wipe the Script Kitties out.
