I was just wondering if any of you are planning on seeing the "George Bush movie" they're coming out with.
It looks interesting, I'm going to check it out.

His 9/11 movie was craptastic.

I'll probably borrow it from my friend when it comes out on DVD (he works at a video store and gets free rentals). I can't believe they're making a bio pic before his presidency is even over. That's months of fuck ups they'll miss or possibly he'll make some kind of major recovery that'll redeem his whole presidency and it won't be covered in the film (hey, anything's possible)

I'm not going to see it, because there are too many other movies on which to spend my limited movie budget. Being a leftie though, I am planning to love it in accordance with the by-laws.
I'll check it out, though I'll view it as a dramatization and not an accurate representation of facts.

Bush is still in office. If he wanted it to be entirely factual, he would make a documentary. I expect it to totally twist the facts and make him look like more of an asshole than he is. Still, I intend to see it.
Haven't seen any of Stone's recent work, but I loved The Doors so I can't say many bad things.

Keep in mind that Stone painted a very sympathetic view of Nixon in that bio pic...

That might influence some voters for his own political gain.

I'm sure he was just timing it for Oscar frenzy (hee hee).

That's true, and I'm still not positive that he won't make Bush sympathetic. I'm sure he'll still come off as utterly unqualified, but I think he may portray him as a well-meaning idiot who fell into the wrong crowd so to speak.

I see they're airing the trailer on CNN. The one line they give?
"Iraq is not Iran. And Iran is not Iraq. I know that much."
I see where this is going.

I actually went to see this last night. It was better than I was expecting, but not great. I wrote a review if you're interested, the link is in my sig.

ya, i'd agree. It was better than I thought, but that's mainly because I came in with very modest expectations. I came in expecting a 5/10 movie, and came out feeling it was a 7/10. Anyways, its out there for entertainment, it isn't striving for balance or accuracy. Given that, nothing really jumped out as me as unbalanced or inaccurate. Everything, apart from the mild caricatures, seemed plausible.
I did, however clench my fists at times. This was from the maddening feeling I'm sure all liberals feel after these 8 years. The movie made me mad, but I was never mad at the movie.
I would recommend other people see it only because this is the first Bush biopic movie. All others will be compared to this one first, so if you want to be part of the inevitable discussions about future movies based on the Bush years, you need to see this one.

Richard Dreyfuss called it 6/8 of a great film. I don't know how to embed video so go to Huff post if you want to see.
