That video was fascinating, thanks for sharing it. :)

A book which I think makes an interesting companion piece to it is George Lakoff's Moral Politics (http://www.amazon.com/Moral-Politics-Liberals-Conservatives-Think/dp/0226467716/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1222644594&sr=8-1) as he reached some of the same conclusions such as that Liberals place more emphasis on the harm/help concept and Conservatives place a higher emphasis on order and stability.

PJ O'Rourke said (paraphrase) "The Republicans are God, and the Democrats are Santa Claus. The difference is that grown-ups don't believe in Santa Claus."

the people on ted are second rate

Johnathan Haidt was awarded the Templeton Prize in Positive Psychology in 2001

the templeton prize is 1.5 M

anyone awarded you any millions lately or ever for you non bullshit ?

better watch desperate housewives instead

and teach your children that they like you are always smarter than anyone else could be and that they therefore have nothing to learn from anyone

masher other people here i don't expect much intelligence from but i want you to know i until now saw you as one of the exception

it's about qusi relgious beliefs, of course it is bullshit :D

it has nothing to do with religion quasi or traditional

it has to do with moral development and especially whether babies are born with tabla rasa or have innate characteristics even before nurture kicks in

actually the blank slate is another talk

more ted bs (http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/steven_pinker_chalks_it_up_to_the_blank_slate.html )

I'm pretty sure Masher was asking if it was an episode of Penn And Teller: Bullshit.

I meant that I'm kind a busy and I wanted someone to tell me what it was about before I looked at it. I don't really like links without some sort of exposition. It could have been Rick Astley for all I knew.

better watch desperate housewives insteadMy wife just got awarded $500K from the NSF for her research. Not bad for a foreigner who does actually watch Deserate Housewives, and records Bold & the Beautiful to "decompress" when she gets home from work (mental floss).

Bullshit is in the eye of the beholder. As evidenced by those you see on Penn & Teller's show, many of the people that hold the BS up as truth and fact fevorantly believe in its validity.

Masher was asking for someone to prevalidate the link with an opinion.

you should know me better than that masher

all ted talks are about 20 minutes so to expect someone to pre view it for you is asking a bit

whether you agree with the ted presenters or not these people are pretty much universally brilliant
