No.

People are short sighted. They care about gas right now.

CNN polled a focus group before the debates. Most said the economy was an issue, some said gas was an issue, none of them said the war.

Goodness no. The surge worked. Victory is at hand. Now we can go back up to Afghabinajad, or wherever.

It's a major issue for a small portion of an electorate, but from what I can tell, most people are more concerned about the economy at the moment partially because they've bought the line that the Surge worked and partially because many are struggling just to get by.

OK, what about someone being right about things? What's the importance of that?

Unfortunately, the other guy being wrong is more important.

OK, what about someone being right about things? What's the importance of that?

in reality it is of ultimate importance

in politics it is the appearance of being righter than the other(s) that counts and the media has just about everything to do with how they appear

usually they are both wrong

so being righter is essentially moot

but most people's minds don't have the kind of concentration or capacity for critical thinking to perceive right or righter

so it is the packaging or branding that prevails

That doesn't matter to as many people as perception does.
