The touchy subject of what to do about the bailout brings up the very interesting question of what it means for someone to be elected to "represent" a constituency. Does it mean to be the spokesperson for the composite interests of those represented, or does it mean that those constituents selected that person because his or her education, wisdom and character enable him or her to make important decisions in their best interests for them?
