After seeing that Britney could do it Dan worked up enough courage to leave his abusing man.

It's because JLo wanted podcast hosts to register. I mean, those out of hands podcasters have to be controlled.
However, Dan didn't like that. So him, Avi and Jeff are now fighting JLo and Kevin. Who will win? I don't know, looks to me like Dan has power in numbers, but Kevin DO have that ranger training.
And what will happen when JLo call his friend Van Damme?
God damn, I can't wait to see how this one turns out.

Dan actually left Geekdrome a couple months in to pursue homosexual relations with Kevin Smith, and for the past 40 episodes what we've all been seeing is a Dan-bot created by JLo in the very basement that Geekdrome is filmed, and all was going well until the Geekdrome picnic where JLo noticed a slight malfunction in the Dan-bot. So once the festivities of the day had come to an end, JLo immediately rushed Dan-bot to the Geekdrome basement and worked extensively on him for the next week, but he came to the conclusion that Dan-bot still wasn't ready for the week's upcoming episode. Not wanting people to see Dan's robot parts scattered everywhere, JLo decided to move episode 53 to the comic shop and had his stepmom fill in for the Dan-bot.
After filming had finished, JLo spent the next few days going over what else could have went wrong with Dan-bot, and, after pushing his entire knowledge of the universe to its limit, JLo had finally corrected the error that had been plaguing Dan-bot. But then he noticed something different with Dan-bot, and it was that now he just wasn't gay enough. JLo immediately called it quits on Geekdrome and had the real Dan post his letter of resignation since Dan-bot had run off shortly after his repairs and was nowhere to be found.
It's assumed that Dan-bot is currently engaging in group sex with many different women to make up for the years of not getting any, or, more specifically, not wanting any.

I would have to agree with you, everytime I see that episode i cringe. I know Dannyt felt like he was violated...and then, there was darkness.

This is the biggest break up since Nick and Jessica. Several sources have said that Jessica going away to film the Dukes of Hazard movie is what put the final nail in their coffin. I'm choosing to also blame the Dukes of Hazard for Geekdrome's demise.
