Hey TMNT 1990 was an awesome film.
Still is and remember was not a cartoon to start with but a Comic Book.
First film is more based on the Comics.

I LOVED the Ninja Turtle movies, well 1 and 2 anyway. I also really like George of the Jungle.

My list above is not a "bad" list,
I was purely pointing out that they have been using cartoons as resource for decades. So studios have NOT lost creativity or ideas. It's just another boom of such movies. Mr magoo Dudley doright and George of the jungle were all around the same time... even then people were going "wow, they have run out of ideas". I remember watching the Popeye Movie when I was a kid, thought it was the strangest thing ever and that was over 20 years ago.

When's the last time a Studio had a good idea? They generally go after what they think will make the money and occasionally luck out with a good film. I mean, if something is a hit, the rest of the studios jump on the bandwagon and we get at least a handful that try to mimic the hit...not to mention the barrage of remakes, and like the list posted, movies based on cartoons (and tv shows, and books, and...you get the idea.)
Actually, how many movies were original ideas from a studio?

Studios generally don't care about good ideas, they care about money. If their "Generic Action Movie 7" is still raking in the dough, they don't care at all. And to be fair, a live action Yogi Bear is more original than some of the crap we get.

Film students have never had creative ideas - haha
That's why they are in film school...
In all seriousness, I watched my brother go thru film school when I was just a boy and I had the opportunity to go to his film shows and be in all his friends movies. I'll tell you this - they were bad then, and they are bad now. Obviously there are exceptions to the rule but most film students think their class are "THE ONES THAT ARE GOING TO CHANGE HOLLYWOOD". They all think that, few really do.

Looks like TV is in the same boat. The just announced that they're doing a remake of 'The Partridge Family'.

Most TV networks have at least some connection to a film studio, so that doesn't surprise me. Besides, just look at their track record over the years.
