This seems excessive. They didn't need to shoot someone over a couple PS3s. Sometimes police officers jump the gun (no pun intended) and are too eager to pull the trigger.

I was going to play the race card ... but the guy the cops shot was white, in possession of one of the stolen PS3s, and had three weapons in his house. As a cop, you'd only go in in force if there was a prior history ... and we get none of that information from the news reports.

Unfortunately, I'm in this part of the country (50 miles from Wilmington) right now and this isn't very surprising. It has been all over the news today.

And Aria, it actually DOES negate the original theft. He will not be charged posthumously for the thefts.

im an ex-people cop and an ex-animal cop, and the reason for shooting the dog was plain and simple, something bad went down, one of the ps3's had some bags of drugs, but the ps3 got mixed up, so the cop got upset cause he didnt have the "goods", the cop went berserker fury and killed the dude and his dog, he didnt want to leave any witnesses...

The dog? **** that. The story I read earlier didnt have that bit. Also it seems odd that they would go in as they did if they suspected him to be as dangerous as they say. Then again I wasnt there, that being said, the dog?! **** that

This wrecks of microsoft's dirty work to generate some bad pr for Sony.

But he was only a suspected ps3 thief right?

Firstly where's the crime scene tape and stuff around that place (or i've probably seen too much hollywood stuff). Also the blood just left there is kinda sickening.

Sony blows, get Wii and a 360 for the same price... :) And never steal... it makes you suck.. and can lead to your death like this bonehead and his dog.

*sigh* On private property, clean-up is the responsibility of the residents.

Tape is used when there's a chance of trespassing and is not always needed. Their "investigation" at the scene is finished.

Wow, I had never heard that. That amazes me that its the responsibility of the property owner, especially in cases like this where there is a lose of life. Well theres one more shitty thing to add to this story.

Want me to tell you how I know?DO IT! DO IT! Tell the story about how you had your unfaithful finace "silenced" ...

There are companies that specialise in crime scene cleanup, as well as fire/flood cleanup. A friend went into it in LA, then sold the business when it was built up into a decent sized business.

I wish it were so fun as that. My dad shot himself one night with me and my mom there. At the police station an officer was giving me the information for a company actually called Crime Scene Cleanup. Since I was watching too much CSI back then and still in shock, I asked who pays if a cop kills someone, and he told me that the resident(s) of the property and/or the property owner(s) is/are always responsible.

There, not the humorous little story you expected, huh?
