I have been trying to get my front audio ports to work for weeks with no luck.

The pins on my motherboard are labelled like this:

1 PORT1_L
2 AUD_GND
3 PORT1_R
4 PRECENCE_J
5 PORT2_R
6 SENSE1_RETURN
7 SENSE_SEND
8 Empty
9 PORT2_L
10 SENSE2_RETURN

The wires from the case are labelled like this:

R-OUT
R-RET
L-OUT
L-RET
GROUND

MIC-INT
MIC-POWER
GROUND

I cannot figure out what to plug into what. There is one audio out port and one mic port. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Dose the motherboard manual have any further information?

I also can't get mine to work on my new system. I played around with the cables and decided not to put any more energy into it. It could be a hardware or a driver problem. My front USB ports work, so that's all I care about.

You can just buy an extension cable at Radio Shack or off of ebay, so it'll be easy to plug in either your headphones or speaker system. I recently added a Sound Blaster Audigy PCI sound card. Along with a $69 Cambridge SoundWorks PC/Multimedia system -- 2 cube speakers and a bass subwoofer. Man, my PC rumbles now, and sounds much better.

The manual only shows what each pin does...it doesn't have any more information.
