With Anakin, I get to watch all sorts of cartoons. I love Kappa Mickey and the Secret Show is a lot of fun. Ben 10 Alien Force is a must watch in this household. But there is a new show that has become a must see for us, Total Drama Island.

A hysterical spoof of reality shows that include survivor, fear factor and the bachelor. Also, each contestant starts off as a stereotype, from the pretty boy, the poser, the surfer vegetarian and event he goth girl. There is a large cast for a cartoon but it is handled well.

We are so hooked because it is a bloody riot. The challenges are brutally horrible. The preppy scheming girl always gets hers. There are a ton of fart jokes (Anakin is a big fan of fart jokes, okay, so am I). And Izzy, well, there are no words.

I have never seen any of the reality tv shows this is spoofing. I frankly don't like reality tv. But this show has actually made me consider watching it without Anakin when he is asleep. Now I could just be a freak. But I would recommend checking this out. It reminds me Drawn Together, yet good. And the fact that it is kid friendly doesn't take away from it. I think it actually helps since they can't depend on some grotesque sex thing for a laugh.

I would love to find out what others think. Are there any new cartoons out worth watching? I am always looking out for good tv the kid and I can watch together. We tried Primevil last night but I think that was a fluke since it had on SaberTooths and those are his favorite cats. He doesn't handle violence well, even when not shown.

So let me know what you think. Thanks!

I haven't really gotten into TDI, I've only seen a few while waiting for Chowder or Flapjack to come on, but from the few that I've seen, Its equal parts ridiculous and hilarity.

I love TDI, although some of the characters and the way they do confessionals sometimes give me Real World flashbacks. lol

I think it's a sign I watch Lost too much when I think the title of the thread says Total Dharma Island.

Well, I remember watching Popeye and being amazed that they were showing a girl being kidnapped by a man who had obviously sexual intentions while she fought back saying no and screaming for help.

Boy, times have changed.

I've only watched a few episodes of the show, and while I'm not exactly in love with it, its a good demonstration of how far along cartoons have come in the realm of not just getting kids to watch them, but to get the adults interested as well.

Spongebob is an institution in my house, me being 21, with my 19 year old brother, and my Mom who is 48 all sitting down to watch it together on weekends. We'll also watch The Fairly Odd Parents, but my only regret is that the show has really "jumped the shark" to some extent with the addition of the Poof character as of late (I still can't get enough of Jorgen Von Strangle).

All that being said, like you mentioned, Ben 10 has really hit its stride as a show that is pretty freakin' awesome. My new thing to watch (obviously) is Star Wars: Clone Wars, but I'll admit to watching something so completely out there that I get things thrown at me occasionally:

Yo Gabba Gabba!

Too. Much. Fun.

I also really like this show. My son started watching it recently and I sat down and watched an episode with him. Now we watch it together.

I do watch Survivor, so I find all of the references amusing.

Pretty good show. Nice catch.
