The perfect diet? Not quite. Eating a diet composed mostly of food with a low GL can cause your cell structure to get lazy. Glucose (and the like) causes the oxidation levels in your cells to "spike", giving them a workout. Otherwise, a person can slowly lose their resistance to free radicals. Tests done with short lived animals, such as rats, don't take this into account. The best way to counter this effect is moderation. A bowl of rice with dinner, a mid afternoon energy drink, or something else along those lines should do the trick. At the end of the day, it's best to keep your caloric intake at around 1500. People living too laborious a lifestyle are asking for trouble in this regard.

Or, just freaking eat like a normal person, in moderation, ignore excess sweets and exercise.

Moderation and control is what really counts.

But it was still funny to listen to Kevin and Alex discuss glycemic load. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but it's still pretty important to learn about. Especially if you work a sedentary job.

Sammy got it right for once. Moderation, exercise, cut excess sweets, which includes soda.

One time I went on a Mt Dew only diet for 60 days. I went from 220 to 160 lbs and was in the best shape of my life. Basically, because I worked out 4 hrs a day, my body had no choice but to convert all of my fat into muscle. I also smoked 2 packs a day during this time and was able to run 10 miles in a 70 minute clip. Sadly, I had to quit the soda to save my teeth... I just wish people wouldn't forget how important it is to be a badass and believe in themselves instead of some doctor or scientific survey. After all, 100 years from now everyone will scoff at how primitive our current technology is. Might as well start scoffing now.

No, but I use to have an awesome mullet...in 2001.
This was back when I would walk the streets of Seattle donning a cloak, sleeveless XFL shirt, and pieces of gladiatorial armor. Good times.
