I am in works of fixing one of my computers and is in need of some knowledge from you guys. I am looking to get a new video card for my computer and don't know what to get? I am looking into the XFX GeForce 9600 GSO 768MB and getting two of them. But I don't know if this would be the best option or would it be better if i just got one really good one?
And then I dont know if I do get those if I would need to upgrade my power supply? I have a ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe mobo. AMD 3800+X2 cpu, one disk drive and two hardrives (consar&raptor)
PS the best thing about the XFX GeForce 9600 is that it comes with a free XFX POKER SET Gift. And its only $80.00 after rebates.
Thanks for the time

I personally dont know too much about graphics cards, but my bro in law does 3D Animation and he swears by NVidia GeForce graphics cards. Any time he upgrades his pc, he always goes for NVidia. Hope this helps...

I'm not a video card expert by any means, but from what I've heard through listening to many hours of hardcore PC gamers on podcasts, is that it's best to pump your money into a SINGLE awesome card for the money instead of 2 lesser cards. Instead of spending $200 on 2 cards, spend $200 on 1 card. Plus that'll leave room for future expansion because in a few months when prices drop, you can add a 2nd awesome card, then your system will really rock. Whereas, if you buy 2 lesser cards, then you're sort of tapped out, by filling both of your video card slots. Plus chances are, the single awesome card will be almost as fast as the 2 lesser cards put together.

I've heard basically the same, but I'd also mention that you will probably have to add the same model of graphics card if you ever choose to add a second, and you'll need a pretty big power supply to handle two cards at once.

apparently, sli now allows 2 different cards to be used, like one by Asus and one by MSI, as long as the core chips are the same -- as in, both being 7800GT's. it'll default to the lower speed. I think I'd rather just buy 2 identical cards, plus if the card is worth buying once, then it's worth buying a 2nd time. My favorite brand of video cards and PC parts in general is Asus.
