Hello,

My goal is the following: I want to create videos I can stream online through a site called Ooyala (www.ooyala.com) and they recommend uploading the movie in H.264 along with the largest file size. This project is for a business that, and the videos are tutorials for our customers. I know next to nothing about these issues, so I have a few core questions:

1) In searching for a camcorder to record our videos (obtaining good quality but not top of the line, my business is on a budget) that I can convert to H.264 what should I be looking for? I prefer one with an external mic input so we can obtain clear audio. Also, what editing program is best for someone who has little editing experience?

2) What conversion program would you recommend?

3) If I want to provide a downloadable link for customers how would I go about doing that?

4) Is there a way to upload the videos to the iPhone or video iPod?

Hopefully you guys will be able help me, and I'll be able to report to my boss what is required of this project. If you need any more information to help me don't hesitate to ask and I'll do what I can to clarify.

Thanks!
-Karl

Well this is sort of tricky because I believe it's going to be a bit more difficult than you first imagined. Also, I don't know about camcorders so maybe someone else can help you with that.

1. Easiest editing software is iMovie, the best for Windows is Adobe Premiere (my preference anyways)
2. SUPER
3. Ask the business' IT or web guy
4. Yes, use the presets for ipod in SUPER

Hope that helps

Thanks for your input. For Adobe Premiere what is the learning curve like? I don't have much editing experience and am afraid of getting overwhelmed with tons of gizmos and the like.

In that case just try Windows Movie Maker, and if that doesn't satisfy you then you can decide whether or not you want to spend time learning how to edit.
