OK, today might be the best day in my life!
Just finished watching "The Sawshank Redemption" and finally decided who one of my favourite actors of all time is, namely Morgan Freeman... Only to find out he will star in a movie based on the book Rendevous With Rama, which is one of my favourite books! ...of all time ;)
seriously, this is amazing!
-although Morgan Freeman is the only person in cast atm. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0134933/), I think this movie might be the bomb, as the director will be: David Fincher !
yeah, the man behind: Zodiac, The Game (1997), Se7en, Fight Club, and the soon to be in theaters; The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
---
- So what do you guys think?
-anyone else here a Sci-fi fan? Or perhaps just a Morgan F. fan? ;)
- and yeah I know, the last time someone tried to make a R.W.Rama movie, it got cancelled, lets just hope it does not happen this time!

I've never read the book, but I'm a huge Fincher fan and I know he's had this on his to-do list for ages now so I'm glad to finally hear it's going ahead. Looking forward to it.

Although I like Morgan Freeman, he's been in too many stinkers for me to get excited for a film based on his presence. Fincher, however, is a god among men and has been damn near infallible once studios got out of his way post Alien 3. Knowing Fincher is taking on such an impressive piece of sci-fi literature fills me with joy. That will be an opening day viewing for me if I can't find my way into any advance screenings.

Not to burst your bubble, but I've been hearing this exact rumor literally for the last ten years. They also seem to update the year of release, every few years, on IMDB. I'll believe it, when they officially announce they've gone into production. Don't take what IMDB says as fact, either. Anyone could enter a complete cast and crew for RWR, and it wouldn't necessarily be true.

Ain't It Cool News just posted an article about RWR. Looks like it's not going to happen. Here's part of it:
firstshowing.net caught up with Fincher, and pressed him for further details. Sadly, though, the outlook doesn't ems good at the moment.
"It looks like it's not going to happen. There's no script and as you know, [Morgan Freeman's] not in the best of health right now. We've been trying to do it but it's probably not going to happen."

it ain't cool... man what a let down... just like the last time I guess, but I was hoping to see it realized soon.
I don't get it though, it shouldn't really be problem to make it into a movie. I find the book quite ideal, exciting, mindblowing... theres so much to write about
well, I'll just go back to my regular life, and hope that within my lifetime, Rama will be on the big screen...
