I own a Dell 968 printer. My PC is a dell dimension e521. I bought it about 4 monthas ago, and until about a week ago, it was working fine.

For no reason I could figure out, the printer would not print documents from my PC via my USB cable. I tried to reinstall the printer from the CD, but the program said that my processor speed wasn't enough! (I guess it never was, because I only used the drivers Vista supplied me with)

So, luckily, I "solved" my problem by using my ethernet connection to connect my PC to my printer. Now I can print from my PC, but I would have been screwed if there wasn't an ethernet connection on my printer.

So the problem must lie within the USB connection, right? My PC would detect my printer, make the sound event when I turned the printer on, but it would not print any documents with the USB connection.

Has anyone come across this problem? I thought it had to do with a windows update, but I went back via a system restore and that was worthless.

Having the ethernet connection is a dual blessing. If you get a second or more computers, you will not need to have another printer. You just get an ethernet hub (if you do not already have one) to connect everything. I use usb printer connections as a last resort. The ethernet connection is the only way to go if you can. Of course using the ethernet connect requires a bit more savvy to set it up sometimes. You obviously accomplished that.
