Geez, how many poll respondents were alive when the Tom Baker was the Doctor? I don't even think David is the next Doctor of the two most recent. I'd have to rate the doctors in this order.

2. Chris Eccelston
3. Peter Davidson
4. David Tennant
5. Sylvester McCoy
6. Jon Pertwee
5. William Hartnell
6. Patrick Trougtan
8. Coilin Baker
9. Paul McGann

Go for it... they did. Billie Piper was number 1... I had a comment on this, but it might be a spoiler for anyone not watching the British time line.

I am surprised Peter Davidson doesn't rate higher on most lists ... he was a great Doctor.

For me it would have to be:
1. Tom Baker - he IS the Doctor, others just share the role.
2. Jon Pertwee - he really defined the role of Doctor Who as a show, but Tom Baker made the character his own
3. Peter Davidson - had a great eccentric English quirkiness and a love for celery.
4. David Tennant - not all regenerations are perfect. I love his personality "flaws".
5. Chris Eccelston - too cheerful, but a great Doctor for the rebirth of the series. I am looking forward to him in Heros.

No real feeling either way about the others.
