Hi everyone,
I have a friend that had a text document on there USB key that they got from Duracell, they some how managed to turn the file in to a short cut to the file name on there C:\
The file name was “Elda.txt”. How they managed to turn the file into a short cut to a file that doesn’t exist is beyond me. But the file is now “Elda – Shortcut” and points to “C:\Elda” since they don’t have any file on there C:\ with the names Elda it’s a dead link. Does any one have a good idea how I might recover the data of the text document?
I’ve tried to use recovery tools to see if I could get the data back, and I was able to find Norecov231.dat and the file size is 190MB. Now since this is close to the file size that she told me the file was I’m sure I found it. The bad thing is the file is unreadable I’ve looked at the file in Hex(and yes I read Hex) I’ve tried to open the file as a .txt .doc ECT. But the only thing I get is over 5000+ pages of crap that I can't even post, and one line of the text is to big to post...
I’ve tried to convert the Norecov231.dat file into every file type I can think of to work with MS Word, Corel Word Perfect, and Google docs. But still nothing comes out read able.
If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know!
