Thank you all so much for watching Internet Superstar. We had so much fun putting this show together, and it’s really tough to see it end. Jay and I hope that you got 1/10th as much enjoyment from watching it as we did making it. Hopefully you’ll see me on a screen again in the near future, but until then I’ll start updating SargeWorld.com again (promise). You’re all Internet Superstars to me.

I'm really sad that Internet Superstar is being cancelled.
After the format change from weekly to daily, I never thought you could keep doing 10-15 minute shows on a daily basis, but you did, and it was pretty awesome (I'd say even better than the last few weekly shows which were only 20 minutes long).
Martin and Jay, you are Internet Superstars!

Boycotting sponsors? Not their fault.
The economy sucks at the moment, but bills still need to be paid - and a big chunk of that is salaries (and benefits).
To all the haters - be thankful you've only lost a couple of free internet TV shows ... and not your jobs.
To everyone at Revision3 that got caught in the mess today - best of luck.

Well this just sucks. I think Internet Superstar was Rev3's best show but apparently the focus was more on a select few series (Diggnation, Tekzilla & EpicFu for awhile) than trying to make interesting stuff for people to watch.
What I mean is I can get random tech news anywhere online - Tekzilla isn't all that special. And Diggnation? I can glance over Digg in 10 minutes myself. And EpicFu? Pretty face, but no substance.
I dunno....this just sucks...a bad business decision in my opinion. I say you should just go do your own thing Martin. The ultra low-budget Infected was superior to Internet Superstar in certain ways because it didn't seem overproduced.......just go follow in Tom Green's footsteps (well, not in the sense of that whole "getting engaged to Drew Barrymore" thing).
You don't need some Digg-powered business to keep you going - you have an audience and with the tons of video sharing sites out now, you definitely have the ability to get your videos out to the masses. Besides, Digg will start fading away soon enough. Just take a look at what dominates the content nowadays...it's laughably bad compared to what it was on there even a year or so ago.
Well, that's all. Good luck Mr. Sargent!
Go to Walmart, buy a $200DV Camera, fire up Windows Movie Maker and make your own masterpiece series. Screw the suits :D

I understand how economical viability has to be a key in the success of a program like Internet Superstar. But what I think may have been missed in what I think was a really BAD decision to cancel the show, is that all the other programming that Rev3 is offering is really not that different to what could be offered on any cable TV channel. Granted, I don't know any cable TV channel that can justify airing tech-geek type shows these days, but the way I see it - you need content that is able to appeal to a non-geek audience and stuff that just isn't found on TV. Otherwise this whole Internet TV thing is just going to go away like another fad.
Internet Superstar, Martin, Jay, Sarah, etc. were, IMHO, staples on Rev3. I would find myself watching them episode after episode on my couch in front of the TV, thanks to RSS feeds. Yet although I'm a fan of Patrick Norton and his shows, Systm and TekZilla would be great for content information, but I'd find myself literally falling asleep in front of those shows. Its not that the hosts are having problems - its just that its dry, colorless and boring from time to time, and yet EVERY episode of Internet Superstar was funny, creative, alive and brilliant.
I know you guys are all ex-Screen Savers, ZDNet TV, etc. folk. But the fact that you came from that background doesn't mean that the future is the past 8 yrs ago. Internet Superstar made a wonderful mockery of humanity in a way that just was brilliant. Jay's amazing work as the side-kick/actor of the show, along with Martin's willingness to 'just go there' and get away with it, will be sorely missed.
I'm sure I'm not alone in these feelings, but when I see the other shows that survived this cut back I really think that this was the wrong decision. If there was anyway to reverse it, I believe it would be to Rev3's advantage to do so.

HERES A QUOTE....
For our long-running Photoshop show Pixel Perfect, it’s the end of a show that’s done over a hundred episodes, and delivered essentially a graduate level course in graphic design and technique. For PopSiren and Internet Superstar, it’s the end of 2 shows that had great promise, but never really found their audience.
..
How can anyone say that Internet Superstar didn't find their audience.
I'M RIGHT HERE YOU MORONS.
"Eat a Dick Louderback" is not strong enough of a phrase to describe my feelings......
Revision3 you have just lost my respect.... To me you are now no better than G4...
I knew that they were growing to big to fast.... Why can't Jay A. be the CEO again????
Over the year, Rev3 has lost so many people that I adored. Everyone think back on all the great hosts and people that are no longer working for rev3.
Much like many of the ancient civilizations
Revision3.... You will be your own downfall.
Oh ya, I also only found out about Revision3 after looking up Martin Sargent and trying to find some Unscrewed episodes online......... Thank you for the entertainment over the years....
You were a mentor, a friend, and guide through much of my adolesent life. Your wisdom, and sense of humor will never be forgotten. Some don't understand your genius. And now you and me, and all your TRUE fans must pay the price for their erogance. It's a sad sad day for Rev3 indeed.
And I was upset when Gator died..... Multiply that times 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, and you will be close to feeling how I feel.

In some ways I'm forced to have some respect for the way he distributed the pain to positions of multiple exposure to the public rather than just nailing people behind the scenes. But still, its sad its come to this, and it makes me doubt the future of revision3 as they seemed to can mostly their original content type shows, which are their only hope for longterm growth.

Martin -
You were the reason I actually came to Rev3. I decided to see if you had any other projects in the works after you left G4, and I was really excited to find you working with so many other TechTV alumni. I was addicted to this new format, and I actually believed that Rev3 could make it.
Thank you for the many times you made me laugh to the point of tears. I can't wait to see your updates on SargeWorld, and I hope we see you working again soon. I'm sure, as usual, that you've got something amazing up your sleeve.
To the higher-ups @ Rev3:
I personally don't understand the point of letting Martin (and others) go entirely. As someone said earlier in this thread, I'm not sure why you let this (and other shows) go, when the content you offer can be found anywhere else on basic television. What's so revolutionary about that?
This was your chance to really push for a strong online entertainment format and create your OWN path. You could have been some of the first pioneers in online entertainment. You're only setting yourself up for failure, Revision3, and for that, I'm sad.
If you think the shows "failed to find an audience," I'm right here. I've always BEEN here. I wasn't planning on going anywhere. Now, I'm not so sure - the shows you canceled were some of the shows I actually watched on a regular basis. If any failure occurred, it was due to the fact that you NEVER promoted these shows as strongly as you supported your others. You never gave these shows a chance. It's unfair.

Untrue, you may have missed it, but Internet Superstar most definitely got promotion on other shows.
It's very sad to have to see anyone or any shows go. Internet Superstar and PopSiren were two of Revision3's most creative shows and it's a shame Revision3 can't focus on a set of smaller, creative and original programming, rather than a broad set of 'the same'.
I'm not a fan of the "shorter and snappier" new formats that seem to be popping up all over the place on the Network either (smells like old-school media thought... a hint to anyone working in media for online: short clips are on their way out, and conflict heavily with what your small (but growing) most dedicated online viewer demographic wants).
Hopefully we'll see some more thoughtful judgments (in line with the network's original ideas perhaps?) in the future.

Untrue, you may have missed it, but Internet Superstar most definitely got promotion on other shows.
They were promoted for like a week in January when the show premiered, but no where to the same extent as the shows have been recently. They didn't promote their newer format, they didn't put a topic on the boards to see what they'd like to see changed or kept the same and they've never (as far as I know) released viewer numbers to the public. How do we know that IS really never found an audience? I never hear anything beyond vague statements.
Also, why did they set up Sarah and Kevin to co-host the Digg Reel if they knew that she was going to be laid off? (They would have thought about it for a bit and known for a while that they were going to get rid of everyone)
Edit: I do think it's funny that the shows they reformatted to be shorter are the ones they got rid of (Pixel Perfect notwithstanding). I count Wine Library with that because they cut the hell out of it to present a short weekly version as well.

Dear Revision3 and audience,
I'm writing this not to flame bait regarding Revision 3 transitions, but in order to simply express opinion and reason why I recently stopped watching many of your podcasts. Rev3 once was a media host of creative, original shows. Webdrifter and PixelPerfect were such shows. I watched these shows plus more because they had an underground and independent feel to them. No longer was my media dominated by CEO's, executives, and profit-driven demands.
This all changed after your purchase of a new studio. I see it in your shows. The strict coherence to McDonald-ized, utilitarian production values are evident. Every new episode is streamlined for production. Rev3 hosts read teleprompter and no longer vibrant and charming. Green screens are overused. Content is clearly developed for audience numbers. Shows are canceled for 'economic' reasons. We, the audience, know what's going on here. Revision3 is turning into a podcast distribution giant like FOX and NBC. It's only a matter of years until it is sold to a bigger media giant, stuffing the pockets of superwealthy peoples.
So what's in my podcast client nowadays? Very few shows by Rev3. I'm going to be enjoying my other podcasts created by average-joe folks. I sure Rev3 distributes, not produce, forthcoming Rev3 Beta shows. And as far as I can tell, none of those shows are fresh, underground tech shows. Rev3 seems to be targeting the young college age, trendy generation of Macintosh users.
All hail the mighty podcasting corporation of the future, Revision3. She is destined to become a media superpower like FOX, NBC, and TBS.
For the abandoned Rev3 shows,

This is terrible news. I have been a fan since audio only Infected and had seen unscrewed on TechTv. I don't understand the reason for keeping on crappy shows while getting rid of the longest running empire that Martin Sargent has created. It is a mistake to get rid of the only original written comedy content that so many tech communities need and strive for. I hope that someone (cringe humor, college humor) is paying attention to this and snatches up Martin for a better and uninhibited show.
Good Luck and We Will Miss Seeing You Every Day!
Hope to see you soon Martin And Jay.

Okay some of you need to stop and think about what has happened, and what is happening. A huge part of Rev3 was let go, and they obviously didn't do it for giggles. They did it because Rev3 is in trouble. Perhaps doing this was the only way to keep the company alive AT ALL. Would you rather they kept things as they were and three months from now Rev3 completely collapses and we lose it all?
This may have been about all-out survival for Rev3. Boycotting the remaining shows is the last thing you should be thinking about. If anything we need to start watching everything they make, possibly even push for paid memberships again.

If they were that hard-up, don't start new projects. Period. Don't spend money on a fancy new studio. In short: Don't mess with what works.
Even though some people consider Martin's show to have a small following, we're obviously pretty passionate about the show. I don't think it was a good move to get rid of people in the same way that G4 got rid of people - just a sudden "see ya later" type of mentality that wasn't appreciated. Not to mention, these people are some of the same people that helped Revision3 get its start. Funny, original content should be the key - not making the exact same content that I could get on my television. Not pulling the same tricks that work in "traditional" media.
This was Revision3's chance to be pioneers. Now, they're no better than the other guys they worked so hard to differentiate themselves from. They risk becoming just another name, and as a startup, they'd be one of the firsts to go under. I think it's much better to take a risk and push your own content with their own styles, rather than just do the exact same thing. It makes no sense to me.

now, while i know that this all sucks, you cant be angry with jim louderback. upset with him, sure, but you have to remember that he's friends with these people, and im sure this wasent an easy decision for him.
I don't think Louderback is friends with them. He is probably as close of a friend as he can be for being a stuck up prick that screws up companies by selling out to the highest bidder and burning all of your original content.

Dear Cast and Crew of InterNet SuperStar;
Your show came at a time when I really needed something to look forward to.
The mix of comedy and dry-wit humor was part of every day entertainment.
I looked forward to your guests and thought your show was akin to a young
Johnny Carson, and the Tonight Show. Yeah, I thought it was that good. I
really don't understand the reasons for the show being cancelled, but I will
wait for whatever new endeavor you undertake, as your loyal fan. I cannot
thank you enough for all the times you gave me the smile, and laugh I needed.
Sincerely,
Lt

I'll admit I wasn't a mega fan of Internet superstar. The sitting around drinking beers and talking format was what really put me off of Diggnation (which I hate with a seering passion, why would I want to watch a show about the very same shit I saw on Digg 4 or more days prior).
However Webdrifter was what got me into podcasts. It was a brilliant idea and if it weren't for WD I wouldn't have started watching shows like IS, Infected, Wine Library TV, Scam School (which is the only good show that Rev3 has now), as well as the Rev3 Gazette.
This was a bad move on their behalf. Perhaps cutting wine library and epic fu are excusable seeing as they were independent to begin with. But why not cut shows like Diggnation and the Digg Reel, I mean K-Rose has the money to fund those shows himself rather than dip into the pockets of Rev3. God he is doing DN from his apartment half the time anyway, they don't even need a studio. And like it's been said before, it's not like they couldn't have sold some of their more niche shows like Pixel Perfect to someone else to take up.
This is a sad day for Internet, and Rev3 has likely lost thousands of viewers because of this. I will follow the laid off folks where ever they go.

Martin Sargent is Internet and he knows more about technology than any living American... How could they let him go!!!!
There is no good excuse for what was done... Revision3 expanded to fast.. Which is what I was saying from the very beginning. You could make a show for virtually nothing.... A camera or 2. Final cut Pro. A host or 2. And 1 editor...... Let the hosts make there own script.. Heck, who needs a script at all. (Just don't go reality show on us) Back when revision3 started, I got into it because of shows like diggnation and infected.. Shows about guys sitting around talking about whatever the heck they felt like.... I loved it. What ever happened to that charm?
Oh yes now I remember, They sold out.

Just wanna say thanks for all the support. It's amazing. We're touched. Just want to say that Marty and Jay will be fine so don't worry about them. Keep supporting Revision 3 because it's still full of great people and great shows. I love you all...Gator.
I have enjoyed the show, infected, unscrewed, and even remember watching Martin on The Screen Savers. I'll miss the show.
Obviously, I knew something was wrong when they Retooled infected into I.S., then killed the charator of Gator and changed the format to daily shorts instead of one 30 minute weekly show. I must admit that I stopped watching as often (mainly due to it no longer being a weekly show), and when Gator was killed, I lost much interest in the show.
I hope all the best and a future return to the Internet for everyone involved with the show.
My message to upset fans: It is over, allow Martin, Jay and anyone else involved that ended up loosing their jobs to move on to bigger and better things. The show never found it's audience (or a large enough audience). Please don't blame Jim L. for being forced to make this decision, it must of been tough to decide on what shows to kill while allowing other shows to survive. Times are tough for everyone, would it be better to have Rev3 continue to produce shows that are not economically viable and run itself into the ground? Please remember that Internet superstar was given a great run, and before that so was infected and we should all be thankful for what time they had.

I figure it is most likely that IS never found a marketable audience so that Rev3 could pick up some bigger sponsors because of it. Many of the recent changes seem to be for the profit of the shows(shorter format, etc.) and while I can't blame a company for trying to grow, I can be disappointed in how they try to grow. IS was GOLD before the format change/Gator-icide. I'm a depressing bastard and it made me have bouts of laughter. Even the ads were entertaining! It was the most original show on Rev3.
Personally, I only watched IS/PopSiren/EpicFu... so now R3 is useless to me(maybe I'll try to get back into watching Patrick Norton.) If it were something like a traditional TV distributor canceling a show I liked then my reaction would be slight disappointment. But this is supposed to be the "Revision 3" of media... so when I see business practices of "Revision 2" of media(dumb it down, appeal to the mainstream) being used to shaft gifted people like those from IS, it is a huge letdown not only for Rev3 but for the future of internet media as a whole.

I have just realised what I am about to post is going to make me sound like a right emo. but here it goes. I loved IS, simple, recently, over the past few months I have been having some personal trouble with family and stuff, and when I discovered Rev3, i was in love, haha. The likes of Kevin R, Alex A, the rest of Diggnation, Martin and Jay where absolutely class and really cheered me up when I was feeling shit. To see my favorite podcast/show disappear is a real bummer.. no more tweetbeet, buttplug/iphone thing.
I do hope we see/hear more from Jay and Martin, hopefully they colab. and do more work, but if not, props to both of you, you cheered me up a lot and im very thankful for that.
I will keep reading Martins blog, just read through it then and I lol'd.
Thanks a million guys!
Joe
Liverpool, UK.
Also, Sarah Lane has gone? She was staff at Rev3 wasn't she? :o
Another edit - EPIC FU? Has that ended or just gone back to its site and YouTube? That really sucks. Really does. I guess theres only Tekzilla and Diggnation for me now...
will Rev3 be making these shows available online, like full archives (or do they already?).

Your welcome Gator. Thanks for reading the forums. Most of us loved the show.. Anyone who comes out saying, "We'll that's what had to be done to save Rev3" obviously didn't care about you guys like we true fans do.
I will continue to watch the shows I normally watch regularly. Diggnation, TRS, Scamschool, Digg Reel, (and if they ever release another rev3 Gazeette)
But I'm not going to put myself through trying to watch any new shows that they may produce in the future.. Knowing that they may just rip the shows from the face of the earth if they arn't making enough money.
When infected was first shot, I don't believe you guys did it because you were getting rich from it.. Right? Yet, for some reason now everything is about the money..
Also, Revision3 can forget about me buying any more future merchanise from them. I have my Infected T-shirt. I was planning on getting a Diggnation and TRS shirts as well, but I think I won't now.
If times were so tough why Didn't Jim cut his own salary in half as a show of good faith? Infact pay cuts for everyone!!!!! :D Better than losing my favorite hosts and dare I say friends?
I live on Revision3. I am at the college all day, I don't even watch tv anymore. I am pretty addicted to Rev3 seeing that it is my only source of intertainment. If it wasn't then I would boycott it completely. But I am already having withdrawal symptoms from not getting to see Internet Superstar..
Gator, I also want to say sorry to you. Sorry that they killed you off the show to make to make things more "audience friendly"
Gator, please make a youtube video or post a video on Sargeworld addressing all your fans and let them know what the future holds.. And please explain to the world that your not dead, that it was just a marketing ploy by rev3.
--If it's possible I'd love to see a rebirth of Infected.. Even just the audio version and the picture slideshows... Which I loved. Go find Joey!!!!!! You can usually find him on the San Fransico bridge.. He's up at the very tip in the middle building him a nest. :p
To Martin:
Everyone has been pretty upset about this news. I still can't believe that they fired you without a goodbye episode. Atleast G4 told you before your last shooting so you could address your army. This makes rev3 even lower than g4 in my book. I use to love rev3 because it was like the rebirth of techtv. Nearly all the same people helping to run there own Internet Network.... If only I knew just how much like TechTv they were... If only I would have known that history was soon to repeat itself....
Everyone talks about numbers and viewership. I also just want to say that numbers lie. I don't know about everyone but when I watch a show on rev3 I don't always watch alone.... Sometimes there are a few of us watching from the same TV. So just because the viewercount only shows 1 doesn't mean that up to 5 or so people arn't viewing for that 1 hitcount.... Anyone else watch the show with friends???
Also a lot of people have been getting pretty upset and saying bad things about other shows that they believe should have been cancelled. I myself do not hold any negative feeling to those other shows. I realize that everyone works really hard to produce and make there shows.
But just for the record, here are the shows that I would have rather have seen cancelled:
Ifanboy
Hak5 and Epic fu --- They have there own site so it's ok not to have them on Rev3
XLR8 TV
Best of
And if I had to choose another-- Tekzilla.. Though I am a big fan of Patrick and Vironica, a user question based show is not my type of show...
Again, I have nothing against any of these shows and admire them greatly for their work.. But just a record of the shows that I don't watch or rarely watch.
Also, I didn't really watch Pixel Perfect except on occasion, but greatly admired his work and hoped to one day go back and learn how to use photoshop from him.
I remember Jay Adelson saying that Martin was a deep part of Revision3 and wouldn't be going anywhere..... If only he was still the CEO... I garantee that things would be different.
Wail I'm talking about the past...
What ever happened to "Mysteries of Science Explained" and "Johney O'Banion"
I miss that guy.

Here is what Jim Louderback posted when Social Brew was cancelle.
"First let me apologize to everyone who had developed an attachment to Social Brew. This news will come as a shock, but unfortunately I've made the decision to cancel the show.
Why? From where I sit, it just wasn't working. It wasn't the hosts, it wasn't the producer and it wasn't the execution. It just didn't come together, and I really think the concept was flawed from the outset - and that's 100% my fault."
I've heard people saying not to blame him for Internet Superstar and Popsiring getting cancelled because it was most likely not his decision alone.. That it was also the decision of "the board" In the statement above it clearly states says "I've made the decision to cancel the show"
---------------------- I think Jim is getting a little to big for his britches----------

I just hope it isn't a year break like between Unscrewed and Infected...
He should start his own site... Making his own videos (would cost virtually nothing) and distributing them from sargeword. Thatguywiththeglasses does all right with his website.. Martin if you can cut out the middle man and do all the work yourself, it could be profitable and still fullfilling. Just start small. Don't grow to big to fast like some "businesses" have lately.
Heres the format.... Talk about shit for an hour.... Infected style...... Post on website.. Use google adsense or revver or some form of advertising.....
May not become rich, but would be much appriciated by your fans..

Info from wiki....
On June 6, 2008 CEO Jim Louderback announced the cancellation of Social Brew only after four episodes. Previous to the announcement Revision3 employee Neha Tiwari was let go without notice.[8]
(Understand Social Brew sucked.. but still. only 4 episodes)
On October 27, 2008 CEO Jim Louderback announced on the official Revision3 blog that three show where canceled, Pixel Perfect, PopSiren, and Internet Superstar and that Revision3 stopped their distribution agreement with Epic Fu, and Wine Library TV.[9] It also came to light that a number of employess were dismissed, including Sarah Lane, Martin Sargent, Jay Speiden, Glenn Mcelhose, and Heather Frank.[10]
Ofcourse you can read all the other notes from the wiki page... But can someone please tell me what Jim has done to actually help Revision3?
He seems to be a guy stuck in a dark room looking for a lightswitch, knocking things over as he goes.

I'm sad. I started watching this show after seeing an interview with djpretzel from ocremix.org, I was hooked and watched every show since. thought it was hilarious, told friends about it. And then bam! over so quick (for me). I've never watched a daily show before this one, and now have no real reason to come back to rev3, not really a big fan of other shows. Coming to face my denial of your show being sliced out of the lineup, I will write saying I was a fan.
Internet Superstar was my fav on rev3. Going way back to Podcasts of Infected. Gave me hope that this type of show, a style I enjoyed, would survive with Internet television. Hope that I could watch a show that has such stuff as:
Tech News
Trivia
Stripper Pole Follies
And interviews with Hot Geeky Chicks, So hot.
Minor note-Pop Siren was a good show too.(not Internet Superstar good though) The world needs more girls like them.
Well thanks Jay and Martin, inspired me in the digital production world. We will follow your productions wherever they are if you do them.
