I was an owner of a set of MDR-V600 Sony headphones but then my house burnt down. I am looking to replace them and I really want to try something different.
What I loved about the Sony headphone:
BASS
Closed Ear, Noise dampening
Great sound and sound range
What I am looking for in a headphone:
I am not looking for studio quality head phones
I am looking for great sound quality, great bass
I listen to Techno, Industrial, Alternative, Rock, Indie, and Classical music
I also listen to allot of podcast
Want something to block any outside sound as much as possible
My price range:
Up to 150 USD
Why am I posting here and not trying them out myself:
You cant try out headphones, bestbuy doesn't give you that option anymore. Also no one carries decent headphones and if they do you cant try them.
Definition of not looking for Studio Quality Head Phones:
From what I have read Studio Quality is a bland listening experience with little emphasis on bass and isn't good for casual listening.
Correct me where I am wrong and thanks for the help...
By the way I was looking at the Sennheiser HD280 any opinions

I use the bose quite comfort 2's.
I know they are abit out of your price range, but they are great!
Let me ping Louderback and have him reply...he almost sold me on another set that he claims even may beat the bose and I believe are right in your range...

Yea I may expand my price range it really depends on how good they are. I have read in a few places that sometimes its not worth it to go over 150 to 200 due to the fact that its very small difference between sound.
Speaking of the Bose set you have what exactly do you like about them.
And what do you use them for... listening to music, movies, games or all
Thanks for the reply :)

I use them for video work (on site via camera/mixer), music, headset for my iphone, etc
The noise cancellation button is sick. The sound is great. Brings a new level to your audio.
The clarity is amazing.

Maybe it was these that Louderback was referring to... Sony MDR-NC60... They are the only ones that have a comparable review to the bose and they are allot cheaper. Only down side is no retail shop sells them and would be about impossible to return if I don't like them without a restocking fee... Love both the bose and the MDR-60's but unsure which one is best or if I am looking over one... back to researching

These aren't closed but are easily the best headphones you can buy at the 150 or below price point : Sennheiser HD555. The next level up, HD595 are also great headphones. These are much better than some 250+ studio headphones I've listened too...definitely the best bang for your buck. Not to mention, these are the most comfortably headphones I've ever owned, and the speaker is angled to be parallel with your ear rather than flat like most headphones, which I found to help with 3D sound as well as comfortability.
I really can't recommend these headphones enough! I recommended these to a friend and he instantly fell in love with them as well.

I'd advise against the BOSE. BOSE actually doesn't have the best reputation in the hi-fi/audiophile industry (and by audiophile headphones don't assume I'm talking about some boring, studio monitor-type headphones; there's plenty of fun to listen to headphones that are much more resolving and detailed than BOSE headphones), and I think you can do much better than them.
I **HIGHLY** recommend asking on head-fi.org as they're pretty darn knowledgeable about headphones over there. If noise-cancellation is your ABSOLUTE highest priority, much more so over sound quality, than BOSE may be the way to go. Otherwise, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.
