Linux programs

new to linux. just got ubuntu and i am wondering if there are any good programs i should get for it. programs can be games, applications, hacking apps, and any other programs you think i should have

for me, my favorites are:

AmaroK or Banshee- Music Player
Totem -video player
Kopete-AIM
apt-get/Synaptic/dpkg -installing stuff
K3b -an AWESOME Nero/Roxio-like CD Burning app

that's all i can think of right now cuz i'm in Windows ATM, but as soon as i go back to Linux again, i'll edit this post and add more stuff.
