Multiverse (http://www.multiverse.net/), maker of a free MMO-creation platform, plans to announce Friday morning that it's struck a deal with Fox Licensing to turn the show into an MMORPG in the fashion of Star Wars Galaxies (http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/) or Eve Online (http://www.eve-online.com/).

Galaxies was okay when it first came out, then they decided to revamp the whole combat system and... does the word "craptacular" cover it?

See...my problem with MMORPGs is the monthly fees. And yes, I understand the need for them. But couldn't most MMORPGs just use the Guild Wars system, where they charge a little extra for each big expansion and have zero monthly fees? That way those of us who don't religiously play them won't be too penalized in the pocketbook.
Just my thoughts.
Still, a Firefly MMORPG would be pretty cool. And I jumped on the Galaxies bandwagon when it first came out. I disliked it then and I'm sure the revamp did nothing to improve it.

My guess is not very much.
It's been 4+ years since Firefly was canceled, and while it was undeniably AWESOME (yes, it merits the caps lock) hopefully Joss is working on other projects.
He'd better be, there's only so many times I can re-watch my Buffy, Angel, Firefly and Serenity DVDs and they are seriously starting to get tired.
