As much as I would like it to be true, seems a little wacky to me. Even the article implies that its more about the county than the case.

This just in, Dick Cheney and Alberto Gonzalez were just apprehended at a Canadian border crossing trying to flee the country in a 1971 Buick LeSabre convertible. They came under suspicion when Gonzales, dressed in women's clothing and telling people his name was Vivian, bragged that she and "Mel" were on their honeymoon. Cheney immediately told the Mountie in charge that he and Gonzales were demanding asylum as political emigres after having been indicted for crimes against the state, in Texas. As they were hauled away, Cheney began shouting "We know Sarah Palin! You people work for her! Vivian, where's my shotgun!"

Cheney's indictment on a charge of engaging in an organized criminal activity criticizes the vice president's investment in the Vanguard Group, which holds interests in the private prison companies running the federal detention centers. It accuses Cheney of a conflict of interest and "at least misdemeanor assaults" on detainees because of his link to the prison companies.
While not exactly a fan of Cheney's, this is bullshit. Cheney has shares in a company that has shares in a company that runs prisons? Conflict of interest perhaps - but its a tenuous link at best.
The Gonzales claims have more merit. I suspect that he (and Ashcroft) will be seeing the inside of courtrooms again fairly soon.

Doesn't matter... Mr. Bush is going to be handing out
Presidential Pardons (http://igs.berkeley.edu/library/pardon.html) like Christmas cards this year.
