This is fairly exciting to me, I'm buying it as soon as it's available. I'm glad this isn't a show that has had a US version made of it as it would be quite simple to botch the idea.

I am pretty excited about this. I really liked this show and was wondering if there would be a 3rd season or not.

OK, well here's the first episode for you. It actually gets considerably better the longer it was on, but this is a great example... also it's got french subtitles so if you feel like brushing up, enjoy.

This show sounded good in theory, but after watching it it turned out to be a generic sitcom with the players changed to geek stereotypes. Unfortunately it wasnt enough for me. :(

hehe, i must agree that the show is somewhat "special".
But since i'm a support technician myself i find the show really amusing since i see myself in the show every day :P

Unfortunately it wasnt enough for me. :(Don't forget the laugh track. This show was painful to watch. Exactly the type of crap that they make fun of in the second season of Extras.
There are many amazing brittish shows that get ruined by American recreations, but this one could only be improved upon since they're butchering an American formula.

Well Faulty Towers, Black Adder, Red Dwarf, Game On...etc etc (I could go on and make a pretty big list) have a laughter track.
Gervais wasn't making fun of sitcoms with a laughter track. He was making fun of crap sitcoms with a laughter track. Eg. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0358319/ ... which Martin Freeman made after the Office.

Yes, you can find the second episode on Youtube, but it's broken into 3 parts. I think the second one is way better than the first. And to be honest the 2nd season felt funnier than the first to me.
Yes there's a laugh track, but I have no issue with it at all as the show transcends some studio execs idiotic notions of adding one in the first place.

I also really dig this show. I think it kinda feels like an Upright Citizen's Brigade sketch turned into a series, its great! Not referring to a specific sketch btw.

In reference to comments made about there being a laughter track, I thought I would point out that it is actually filmed in front of a live audience. There is an interview (http://www.channel4.com/entertainment/tv/microsites/I/itcrowd/interviews/katherine_parkinson_s3_1.html) on the channel 4 website with Katherine Parkinson (Jen) about series 3 and she talks about filming in front of an studio audience.
Filming in front of a studio audience is quite unusual these days. Why go to the bother?
It is quite unusual, it's true, but I think there's a move back in that direction. Studio-based sitcoms have become synonymous with slightly dated stuff, and so many of the modern sitcoms like Gavin and Stacey and Pulling don't use a studio. But Graham would never work any other way, and his writing really suit's a studio setting. You need the audience's laughter to punctuate the script. The audience are part of it. We're all required to give quite big comic performances, and the audience really helps with that. You really realise that when you film the stuff that's not in the studio - it's like filming a totally different show.
She also talks about the show as a whole maturing and to expect series 3 to be better than one and two.
Is it fair to say that the second series of The IT Crowd was better than the first?
Yes, I think so. And I think the third series is probably even better than the second. I think it's found its feet. We all know each other, we know how to work together, we know what we're doing, we know our characters better, Graham knows the characters better. I think it's bound to be the case as you go on. I mean, I'm sure there are some comedies that know themselves totally right from the first series, but I think most take a little time to find their feet. I think it's made it a very satisfying process, because I feel like we're really getting results more and more as we go along.

i was excited to see season 3 starting...for awhile they were talking about an NBC remake but that was before the writer's strike I think - so maybe it never got off the ground . . . thank god! For the new views stick with it...it grows on you, especially when the new ceo of their company arrives - he's awesome.

From the writer/creator of the show:
http://whythatsdelightful.wordpress.com/
Today’s the day, kids! I’m still editing, but I definitely think this is our best series. We really–
No, maybe I should keep expectations low.
We messed up. It doesn’t work.
There! Now you’re really gonna love it!
Couple of things–
No, I can’t do anything about the laughter. Anyone who doesn’t like studio sitcoms, let’s just call it a day and start seeing other people. It’s not working out.
Anyone who wants to start being nasty about me or the actors or the show, this is not the place. There are several sites out there where you can get your hate on and no-one will just instantly mark your comment as spam. And best of luck with getting that script commissioned!
A big thank you to all the cast and crew who made this series such a blast to work on. I apologise for complaining on the rare occassions where something went wrong, and not noticing or remarking on it when things went right. I am sometimes an arse.
Last but not least, thanks to all the people who wrote in to this site and suggested props for the set. Man, that worked out. Man, that worked out. I guess to most, it’ll look exactly the same, but to me, it’s a huge improvement and a permanent reminder of how much you dig the show. I am indebted to you all.
This is part of why I love this show so much. I mean, they have a V for Vendetta mask decorating their set as a reference to Anon! And how many sitcoms have you seen that have O'Reilly posters in the background?
Oh and here's some "spam":

For me the IT crowd is very hit or miss, there are great episodes like the first of season 2 (with the gay musical) but there are also some very mediocre ones too.
The third season seems to be off to a good start though.

it could be set in his office for the whole episode just talking to people . . . his delivery is his own.

While it's not the greatest show in the world, I was hooked after a couple episodes. If you ask me, Moss makes the show worth watching.
