'*EDIT* Ahh typo in subject, I meant to type "I just got back from SEEING The Returning Champs". Sorry about that.
It was hilarious!
It was my first time seeing them perform and although I knew it was improv, I had no idea of what to expect. My beautiful girlfriend Dana and I went together to the show, and for some reason I thought it would be necessary to wear my Navy Dress Blues....
After about 20 minutes of looking for a place to park, we arrived to the theater around 8:30 P.M. and guess who was standing outside? The Returning Champs! They are a great group of people and very polite. But my girlfriend and I couldn't help but notice how unbelievably nice Jeff Cannata. He definitely has to be one of the nicest people I've ever met and was very polite, so we talked for a bit about TRS, TRC?(The Returning Champs), and work.
The show started and they were the first group to perform. They had an introduction and once they appeared on stage they explained what type of comedy they do and how for their shows they have someone in the audience "tip" them a topic pretty much, a verb in this case which was the word "shout". They each brought such great talent to their performances and what I really thought was great was they had so many different sub-stories that was based around shout and in the end all of the stories came together for a hilarious climax. The fact that everything was made up on the spot and could all come together into one story (kind of like Crash huh?) was perfect.
He said he would talk to us after the show, and after the show I didn't want to be rude and bother him (to be honest I thought I was annoying him, but he never showed it I just didn't want to be rude). He came and walked up to us and it was really cool.
Another comedian by the name of Citizen Kate (Citizen Kane anyone?) was very polite and I guess since I was in the Navy they asked me to act a fake interview for her dvd or website and they were really nice to my girlfriend and me as well so as soon as I find out when the video will be up I'll post it on here if anyone is interested.
