so I wasn't too impressed with the 2hr "movie" that premiered tonight set in africa. however after watching the preview for the rest of the season, i'm really excited and have new hope for a season to redeem the last season, which was soo long ago.

2 words: tony almeida

I knew that guy wasn't dead, hence the no "silent 24" break after his "death" even tho it looks as tho he'll be bad, he was one of the best characters of past 24. i'm excited, what do you think?

Comparing to games:

24:Redemption = Farcry 2
24: Season 7 = Call of Duty 4

As much as I like 24, the "2 hour special event" was kinda "meh" ...

OK, we get that Jack has been wandering the wilderness since being let go from the Chinese prisons to do that one last job for the US Government where he was on the verge of a psychotic breakdown.

He was wandering the war torn lands of the world, as a one man A-Team looking for "Redemption". Cool.

As his last act of selfless sacrifice he does something that gets him captured and sent back to the US in disgrace. Boooooooo ... but not unexpected. He needed to be back on US soil for Day 7.

OK, strip that away from the "2 hour event", and you get 45 minutes. Take out the 30 minutes of Hyundai ads, and that brings it back to 15 minutes. Take out the title credits, the end credits, and the next season teaser, and you are down to 8 minutes.

Those 8 fleeting minutes are I think the most important part of the whole show. New President. Female (I guess black is now a reality, time to move on). Her son has a friend who sent him file and has just been murdered for his part in laundering terrorist money for Bradjelina's estranged Dad who is funding a war in Africa (the continent, not the country Madame President) and has Secret Service ties.

I suspect those 8 minutes will be the key setup for the next season.
