I thought the first had an excellent first and second act. Third act sucked very, very much.

So. Prequel or sequel? I say none. And then let them try again with this book in 15 years.

could by both. Story of someone telling Will Smith's character's story and then the continuation of what happened afterwards.

I thought the first one was really dumb. Why waste precious money on a sequel? Has the financial crisis not hit Hollywood yet?

i enjoyed the book. the movie was just horribly executed. Smith had some great acting, powerful moments but the creatures were just really bad CG and i HATED the ending. It they make a sequel obviously smith wont be in it, prequel would be cool i guess.

Only good part of the movie was Will Smith because I enjoy him on screen, the Dog scene was very strong.

but anyways I'd rather see them turn the book into a movie, that'd be good shit. just wait for another remake i guess...be what the 5th one?

Yeah, the book still hasn't been represented adequately IMO (but I haven't seen Omega Man yet).

Haven't read the book yet, nor seen the Vincent Price version...but I've heard The Omega Man is the furthest from the book. (Would need someone to verify that, though)

I've read the book and seen Omega Man. I am Legend the movie is a remake of Omega Man.. with retardedly bad CG vampires... to jazz it up. Nether film makes any attempt to do the story in the book. To the point where the meaning of the "I am Legend" title is completely discarded.
Plus the other difference between the movies and book is that the book is really good. If you've seen the movie, all you know is the setting, the book isn't spoiled by it. So read it.
The proper adaptation would be a good movie, it's needs a good actor/director though. Will Smith just doesn't have the chops to do it adequately.

Trying not to spoil here, but I agree with the title not coming through in the films. Plus, I am a huge fan of how the book ended but don't see a director/actor with the balls to be faithful. It really hits home, how it ends.
