View Full Version : PS Home TRS Club update...

So the TRS club on PS Home is up and running, with 20 or so members.

first - to Jeff / Dan / Alex / Revision3 - if i'm stepping on your IP, i totally get it and i'm sure you'll want to take control of this at some point. let me know.

clubhouse - i set up the clubhouse. there's only one model available, and i threw a few chairs in. definitely a "beta"

invites - i think i got around to accepting everyone who wanted in. if i missed someone, let me know here and i'll take care of it.

message board - there's a little message board in the clubhouse. it seems like this is the only way to communicate right now. go ahead and try it out.

events - i put three chairs at the front of the clubhouse in joyful hope that we can someday have some real TRS events in the club. aside from being a place to hang out with fellow TRS-ers, it could be a good venue for meetups or a live show. the clubhouse has what appears to be a TV screen mounted on the wall. Right now there's no way to control what's on it (or put anything on it at all, for that matter), but the potential is there.

thoughts?

Keep in mind that all clubs will be wiped when Open Beta launches.

The guys, if possible, should do a live show via Home. They could do it while also filming an actual show, they'd just be wearing bluetooth headsets, I'm sure there would be more stuff to resolve to make it happen, but would be cool.

I'll have to do this the next time I get on. I just downloaded Home this morning and tried it for about an hour. So far it seems very....dull, but I suppose theres potetial but I see this as something that seems cool at first then I never touch it again.

Yup. 100% agree. Boring, with untapped potential for the future... The distant future.

I keep telling people this, and the people who haven't tried Home themselves fight me on it.

Well I sent an invite, although I will be honest I have no idea how much I will use Home, at least not right now.

I was listening to CAGcast the other day and they made a good point. They should make Home your default area when you start up. You can bring up XMB if you want or explore, but if I had to load it up everytime I started I probably wouldn't use it often. So far it sounds like you do have to load it up to use it.

That's the worst idea I've ever heard.

Make it optional in the system settings or whatever, but don't force that on anyone.

Home takes forever to load, and about half the time I use my PS3 I am watching videos or listening to podcasts, which you can't do inside of Home.

If I have to wait for Home to load up and then exit it back to the XMB every time, I'd be really fucking pissed at Sony.

Maybe some day in the distant future when they make Home useful and fast, ok. But until then, I don't want to use Home of my own volition, nevermind be forced into it.

See I don't hear these stories otherwise I probably wouldn't have posted before. But if they really want to make Home a success they really need to make people either start there or want to go there. But if they made Home somewhat like the NXE where you can go further into home or just do the cross bar I think it would be alright. Like I said Sony needs to make Home almost like a first stop even if it's a toned down version for faster loading times and what not. But if it isn't, I doubt many people are going to go out of there way to load it up because I know I wouldn't. I'd just like to see Sony successful at something, because I like the PS3 and PSP. I'd rather not see them become another Sega.

I think lots of people will use Home, even if they have to initiate it themselves. There - apparently - are some people in the beta who like it how it is just fine. I'm just not one of them.

Another reason it'd be bad to have it load automatically is if someone doesn't have Internet, they're wandering around in a small little portion of a city, sorta, with not only nothing to actually do, but nobody to dance with.

I guarantee that if you force people to log into home before they can do anything you'll end up with a lot of pissed people. Home is to slow to be a starting point. The people that want to use it will use it. Why force others to do something they don't want to do? In hopes that a small percentage will like it enough to stick around? Better hope that's a bigger number than those that get aggrevated enough by the experience to stop gaming on their PS3s.

Home is pretty awful. I doubt I'll use it again during the beta period. If I hear that there is new functionality introduced I'll give it another shot, but I'm not very hopeful. I tried graphical chat rooms in the mid 90s and didn't care for them at that time, tried it again with second life and liked it even less. Now I've given Home a shot, and the third time is definitely not the charm.

yeah home is way to slow as it is right now.

I could see sony making it a must do when you turn the system on but i hope they will fix it up alot before that happens.

and sucks for the folks without the internet to a home system in this time and age of gaming.

Speaking of Home, I got a spare Beta code today, first person to PM me with a request for it gets it.

How did you manage to get it? And are you sure it can be used with a PSN ID different than yours?

If nobody else wants it first, I'm sure NJShadow would take it.

Well, no one has asked for it so I'll give it to him, let him see if it'll work.

I got my first code through my Japanese account, this one through my normal account.

Thanks a TON man, it worked! FINALLY! I REALLY appreciate it. Just sent the TRS club an application and am pert of the TAWKN club.

So far Home seems pretty fun, but time can fly by easily so use with caution! :D

I totally agree. I've fallen asleep several times while attempting to use Home, and when I wake up, time has just passed like THAT.

So that whole Qore episode thing for annual subscribers didn't really matter, considering I only got my invite on Monday.

I hope you - nay, I hope nobody bought Qore just to get into Home early... So not worth it.

Nah, I got the annual when it first came out...figured I'd give it a shot for a year.

I did muse to myself about maybe there would be Home stuff, but I wasn't really expecting much.

What's the benefit of joining a club? I figured I should find out since this thing opens wide tomorrow.

So you feel special?

Honestly, it just allows a private hang out area that all members can come and go to at any time.
