OBAMA: Well, I'm, I'm negotiating to figure out how can I get information from outside of the 10 or 12 people who surround my office in the White House. Because, one of the worst things I think that could happen to a president is losing touch with what people are going through day to day.
Will Obama be "The People's President"?

Isn't that what this thread (http://revision3.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24370&highlight=obama+blackberry) was about?

Why, yes ... it is. I thought we had a thread on it somewhere already, but couldn't find it.

Did we ever get a final answer on the Blackberry issue?

It turns out to be a moot point. Scientists have confirmed what we all already felt was true. Barack doesn't need a Blackberry. When he speaks, we all just "hear" him.
That said, Sprint is still going to charge hi $50 a month for bandwidth.

He's fighting to keep a lot of stupid things...
...people on welfare
...people relying on the government
...global warming
Why would this shock anyone?
Obama needs to actually listen to people who know more than him. So, pretty much the entire intern staff at the White House. I do recall when Kennedy didn't listen to the advice of the US government. We all know what happened with that one.

Most of what Bary is trying to do is prevent people from being on welfare ... you know, saving jobs and stuff.
I did hear that he was going to walk across the reflection pool for his inauguration, and told caterers that 5 loves of bread and two fish would be fine ... and just get water on the tables. He'll look after the rest ;)

Most of what Bary is trying to do is prevent people from being on welfare ... you know, saving jobs and stuff.Right, by creating more government jobs. Like I said, more dependence on the government. Nothing like the government writing out their checks to make sure they get more votes next election.

Right, by creating more government jobs. Like I said, more dependence on the government. Nothing like the government writing out their checks to make sure they get more votes next election.Right ... in places like the "US Department of rebuilding the roads and fixing the bridges". What? Thats not a government department? The government subcontracts out the work to PRIVATE COMPANIES.
If anyone were to believe it, it'd be a Obama voter for sure.Fortunately the only people who would put any credence in a story like that are the neo-con Christian Right wingers ... and somehow I don't think they'll accept the invitation (although, with the way Barry is reaching out across party lines, I am sure they got an invite).

So true! Why on Earth would people want to take care of people in need? Why in Heaven and Earth would people expect to rely on their government? And why in Heaven should we give a rat's ass about the only planet we have? You have summarized the issue perfectly.

Still fighting for his blackberry ...
New update or rehash of old news? Hard to tell sometimes. Its a real non-news article.

What's wrong with public employees? (I am not one by the way so there's no bias on my part). Privatization of government jobs isn't always good either. One of my friends works as a social worker. She makes like $12/hour with crappy benefits, meanwhile the private company she works for charges the government about $130/hour for EVERY hour she works providing services to handicapped people. So the taxpayers are out way more money, meanwhile a parasitic middleman company gets rich. And this private company won't even provide her with a decent laptop, so she wastes an hour daily trying to upload her paperwork (her company charges the government for this hour).
If she worked for the county, it'd save the taxpayers a lot of money and she'd get a better salary, allowing her to spend this money at local businesses.

What's wrong with public employees? My wife is a professor at a public university (country's oldest). She could be earning 2-3x what she is currently on in a private research lab ... but she would lose the autonomy of her research.
Nothing wrong with being a public employee.
Except the sub par benefits. And salary.

What's wrong with public employees? .
The problem is that as soon as you start envisioning public employees as individual people going to work and doing jobs it is harder to be able to demonize "the government" as monolithic unknowable blob of evil.

Hmmmmm... unfortunately, I don't seem to have that problem. When I think of a public employee, I rarely think of politicians. No they usually only serve their own best interests, with few exceptions. Surprised that the home shopping network hasn't tried to hook-up with Sarah Palin, ...yet.
