How about a episode on building an aluminum foundry. Maybe one that can last a good long time or maybe even one that can handle more than just aluminum.

A new version of HDDHackr (v1.00) for the Xbox 360 came out a few days ago.

You can now install a 150GB WD VelociRaptor drive (10K RPM) into an Xbox 360. It seems like it'd be a nice/easy/cheap/mostly legal mod to do. Sure, you can do it for free and much easier on PS3, but there's something to say when a 150GB, 10,000 RPM drive costs only $10 more (after rebate) than the official 120GB, 5400 RPM drive from Microsoft.

You need to install a 12V line since it can't run off the given 5V, but it would be great to see a 360 running games from a 10K VelociRaptor.

I saw this video on youtube a while back, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxBa5bQfTGc, and thought it would be a grand idea to have a "how-to" on the show about building one of these. Here's a list of the parts they say they used for the gun, http://www.paintballsentry.com/instructions.html. I plan on doing this build and would love to have Systm do a tutorial on it.

An episode on how to make/modify your own spy gadgets would be cool.

For example, wireless spy camera detectors are dirt cheap but they don't work with hidden wired cameras.

Some bright spark came up with this to allow you to detect the lens of hidden spy cameras: http://www.spyville.com/spy-finder.html and it was copied by other companies and sold for (ridiculously high) similar amounts of money.

But surely you can build your own one for a fraction of the cost, couple of AA's some superbright red LEDs & some red cellophane to look through with a tiny circuit to flash the LEDs on/off when a button is pressed. Check out the video link on the link above to see just how simple the concept is.

An additional spy gadget hack I'd like to see/do is something I saw on "Burn Notice", the main guy hooked a passive infra-red sensor (motion detector) into a pre-pay mobile phone, so when the sensor detects motion it uses speed dial on the pre-pay phone to call his main mobile phone - basically a (very) remote wireless motion detector that doesn't cost you money every time the 'alarm' goes off.

What about a systm all things servers, including a behind the scenes tour on what powers digg (Data Center, Digg HQ, etc.), go over operating systems (Windows, Linux, OpenBSD, Solaris, etc.) that are best to run your server with, go over LAMP or Rails configurations, and what kind of sever you should look for (CPU, Ram, Hardrive, Racks, etc.).

Anyway, that's what I think.

.:!Later!:.

I second that

System really should be split into two shows. I kind of like the software install shows even though they are a bit underwhelming somtimes. Even in the last show they could of spent a few more minutes and talked about more of the settings for mediatomb. Then the show coulkd have scratched an itch. I wonder why Revision3's own IT staff thinks about the software segments and how they could be more techy. Keep the original show for all the hard techies and stay away from software except as where needed.

An episode on how to set-up a TV server would be cool.

So a media server equipped with some (digital) tuners that can also stream live TV over your network.

Mythtv is a tv server, but they really did not touch the capabilities of what all it can do.

I'd like to see an episode on using a small refrigerator to cool a computer. Systm has done episodes on cooling by car radiator and mineral oil (ick) with varying results. Can a computer fit inside a small fridge? Will the cold temp adversley affect the different components? Will condensation build up if you turn off the fridge at night, or do you keep it on all the time?

Have a show showing a Crestron control system, and what It could do, possibly showing a touch panel and proceessor for examples and a multi room audio setup, the numerous applications of a control system

I have always thought about taking an old pc and put multiple sound cards in it. then rewire a keyboard in the form of a normal organ keyboard to make a an awesome musical device. You could also have other programs running in the background to access the sound cards and increase the complexity of the sounds. sort of a homemade synthesizer.

I think, perhaps to go along with the Month of MAME, you guys should do an episode (or multiple episodes?) on building a Dance Dance Revolution (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dance_Dance_Revolution)/StepMania (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StepMania) dance pad.

I know these pads are available for almost every modern console and for PC's, but the inexpensive ones suck (in a most sucking fashion). The expensive dance pads are.. well.. expensive, AND most of the good ones come from Chinese vendors and have to be shipped overseas which just adds to the expense.

It's true that there are a number of web sites that explain how to build a DDR pad, but seeing the Systm crew actually *build* one would make it more accessible to those of us who are 'watchers' instead of 'readers.'

The Month of MAME was cool, and it, at least in my opinion, was a great example of what Systm *should* be, except for one thing... the MAME cabinet was prohibitively expensive for us average, hard-working folk who don't have access to Roger Chang's credit card. According to what I'm seeing online, a good quality DDR paid shouldn't cost a DIYer more than $150USD to assemble. This seems a reasonable expenditure considering the health benefits one can gain by adding frequent DDR sessions to their leisure time.

The MAME cabinet, though being the epitome of awesomeness, is likely to have a directly proportional effect on the excess weight of the user (that is to say, more time gaming leads to a higher consumption of Cheetos). In contrast, a DDR pad would likely have an inversely proportional effect on the excess weight of the user.

I think that Systm would be doing a great service to the Internet-TV-viewing public by showing us how to build a DDR pad.

To mangle an old cigarette ad... Dance Dance Revolution: for the health of it!

My show suggestion is to not do what you said in the last episode which is to blend it into the occasional Tekzilla segment.

How about a short segment on how to turn a usb keyboard in to a Midi foot controller for use in programs like ableton live. a volume/expression pedal would be nice too. Think its possible? show me how...

Have you ever done a piece on TV remote programming utilizing the JP1.x interface? If not it seems like a nice fairly short piece that may benefit some folks. If you don't know what i'm talking about just google JP1 and you'll get the idea. I bought the interface cable and i'm hooking up to my tv remote to my computer via usb but i'm having difficulty really knowing what i'm doing. What say ye knowers of all techno lust?

I did a previous one using this method from this site:
http://www.universebot.com/2009/07/30/diy-use-a-linksys-router-as-a-xbox-360-wireless-adapter/

I have an old d-link router that could be turned into a DIY xbox 360 wireless adapter, but it isn't captible so I would like to maybe see several different ways of doing this.

Thanks!
