Sound Problems(need help)

I am only getting sound out of my front side speakers and sub. My center and rear speakers make no sound. I am using the onboard sound card on my asus a8v-e deluxe. I have updated the driver, it is using something called AC'97 Audio Codecs. when i use the realtek utility it sense all the connections to the speakers but only plays on the front sides. i tried plugging the other speakers into the out put for the front side and they all worked. So to recap, non of the speakers seem broken and as far as i can tell the computer knows they are there but sound only comes out of the one set. Can anybody help me out and give me some pointers on how to fix this problem?

This is the design of surround sound with no 5.1 channels. Since the audio is only 2 channels you only get two channels. If you use an older version of ds_output.dll for winamp it will play in all four channels, but they changed it in the new version. My z-680s have a effect button where i can force 2 channel into 4 channel, maybe your system has such a button?
