Never had an ipod so I can't compare, but I really do like my Zune. I think the design is better and I don't care much for the scroll wheel on the ipod. I always thought that the ipod hand an upper hand because it could receive podcasts. Once podcasting became integrated into the Zune, I would never even think of replacing it with an ipod...but that's just me.

I adore my Zune. I got a Black 80G for Xmas last year and I'm in love with it. I like the simplicity in design while still having an artistic flair to it. I also enjoy the fact that it's an MP3 player. There are only a few devices where I really want to waste my battery on them being multifunctional. My smartphone is one of them, but I would never use it as a music player. I'd like to keep my smartphone as a phone, in case I'm in some dire situation and need to...I dunno, make a phone call!

The Zune is simple and elegant and I'm really enjoying the Zune software now. Maybe I've just gotten used to it. I do wish, however, that it would scrobble my plays to Last.FM as well as the Social. I end up switching btwn iTunes and the Zune software to make sure my music scrobbles and gets shown on the Social. I also wish that when I searched for an artist/song/word that I could play all the music in my library that the search renders as you can do in iTunes.

I've been toying with importing one for a while but conflicting reports on whether I can get full service (the subscription service) even with a US-registered credit card have lead me to hold off.

I got so fed up of my PlaysForMaybeOnAGoodDay machines (the Sony being the best of the lot, but a distant second overall to the iPod) and problems with subscription services.

My ideal, honestly, and speaking as someone who believes that developed Fisher-Priceness works well on an MP3 player but not so well on a computer / operating system, is that subscription services appear for the iPod.

Ive had my zune 30 for quite a while now, and the only problem ive had is a dead battery.

I bought my zune off ebay, refurbished from Seattle, because i live in the UK (london to be a little more precise) and obviously the zune is only available in the US. After soem tinkering i managed to get podcasts on my zune, which is how i watch diggnation, tekzilla, scam school, hak5 and systm :D.

I love my zune, it goes with me everywhere (since i built my portable USB recharger). I ordered a limited edition GoW zune 80 but its been at US customs for about 6 months now... So ive kind of given up hope on that one...

Other than microsofts hatred for international podcast watchers. The zune is awesome. I got it because EVERYONE in the UK has an ipod, wheres the individuality!?

I just got mine yesterday and I'm digging the size and style. I was surprisingly impressed with the wifi access (for the marketplace) and the FM tuner...(which I rarely listen to radio anymore, so this is new again...LOL).

I think I gonna like it!

How'd you break it?

The pins at the bottom were you plug the cord into it all broke.

Love the my Zune 120gb, had the 80gb and sold it to upgrade. Compared to the iPod it has a much better interface when you want to browse for songs or videos, the touchpad is much better than the circle thing on the ipod making it easier to search also.

If you don't have a large music selection, get the Zune Pass as it helps expand what other music you would also like.

you need a new motherboard. you can order one online for 75 bucks. they are easy to replace too. there are videos online showing you how to do it.

One of the ribbon cables is also broke so I figure I will just get a new one or other brand later.

Not a fan of the design really but they are good little machines for sure. I dont own one but a friend does, so fun to mess with each other over being Zune/iPod fan boys at work.
