View Full Version : HELP giving privileges to limited accounts in WINDOWS XP

Hey guys, Is there a way in WIN XP to give some privileges to some limited accounts, I tried already ABSOLUTE STARTUP program I didnt like it... I dont want to stop any SERVICES just SOME PROGRAMS like gmail notifier and give privilege to the antivirus...... Is it possible?????

Xp home i assume

boot up in safe mode, log into the admin account.
now you can get to the security through right clicks etc..

I Have Xp Pro.... maybe I wasn't clear, I want to have several limited accounts have access to different programs.

you can completely lock down the accounts to bare bones permission. Then you can add the programs you want these accounts to be able to use one by one. The only issue is that you will need to set the security on the programs individualy (or create a security group if they are all gonna be the same), then you would need to set the security on whatever these programs may modify, esp the registry.

I used to lock several machines down , and then these users would need to be able to use X program, i would have to audit the machine when running the program to find out exactly what and where permissions needed to be added, so it def can be done it just takes more work and investigation
