One of my best friends is the wife of a military man. Reserves called to active. He's served before, but went to reserves this time because they've got kids. He's home on Christmas leave, then goes to Afghanistan. We need to bring our people home.

I wish Tadpole (http://revision3.com/forum/showthread.php?t=205&highlight=troopcasting) was still around these threads. Great guy. Gonna seek him out when I get home tonight.

We need to bring our people home.
We need to have more respect for other people and their homes.

We need to have more respect for other people and their homes.
Which is why we need to bring our people home. I may be in the minority with this view, but we have no right to dictate how other countries govern themselves. Our way seems right to us because it's how we were raised, whereas many people in other countries find how we govern ourselves to be appalling, if not worthy of hell. Even in this country, for instance, there are women who choose to be 110% submissive to men, despite knowing they have other legal options. In Vietnam, the South Vietnamese, who we were supposed to be helping, didn't want us there. Yet we stayed to try to impose our way. We sure wouldn't like it if one of the mid-East countries came here and tried to destroy our way of things because they believe a dictatorship is right because rule passes directly from one "knowledgeable" ruler to the next, and because their beliefs say it's wrong for women to be completely equal to women, and even their women believe that.
We need to bring our people home and quit trying to rule the entire world and respect that different countries and culture will have different practices and beliefs, and those practices and beliefs are only wrong to those who practice and believe differently AND who can't respect others for their differences.

please don't turn this thread into this, folks. :( I specifically put it in general instead of politics because the sentiment is non political, and non partisan. Legit discussion, but start a new thread in politics, maybe?
